Got My New TOY :)

Been breaking the thing in all weekend which isn't the easiest thing to do having to keep it under 1/2 throttle.

Because I always seem to get myself into perdictions to where I have to back up and most of the time it's just a pain to do so with out reverse. I still feel that even with the changes yamaha made to the 450F this year that the raptor is still more trail friendly and thats pretty much all I ride! so. What year Raptor do you have? Why don't you ever ride yours? Heck I got mine sat at 5 and at the end of sunday I almost have the 10 hour breakin done. So then I can really start to get used to the power of this thing an have some fun.

Got ya. Heck if you don't ride it anymore then you should try and get rid of it so the value doesn't keep going down. I liked the black and orange scheme they have now too, just wanted the white more and the new raptors have almost the same suspinsion as the 450f

Aw don't worry bout break in ride it like you stole it.

When i raced bikes when ever we rebuilt the motor or even bought a new one, crank and let idle till its good and warm, run through the gears bout 1/2 throttle a couple of times, then stand on in every gear bout 2 more times and thats it. If you break in easy and ride it hard the rings will fell faster because they weren't broke in under high pressure.

By the way anyone need a 06 TRX450 in southern TN?? Since me truck wreck back in november i havent been able to ride, heck i'm just now walkin so I don't need it anymore.

Alright thanks KVD cause I know I will be ridding this thing hard all the time pretty much so I guess i'll run it hard from now on. Should I change out the break in fluids in it befor I start thrashing on it or leave them in for a while longer thne have them changed?

When i bought my 700 Raptor i did a few heat cycles and then babied it for what seemed like forever(probobly only an hour), then I changed the oil and filter and beat on it for a while and changed the oil and filter again and called it good. One thing to do is to run it threw the gears good and hard like you are drag racing but dont hold it at high rpms for a long time just use all its power. After each time ride it around slowely letting it cool and then reapeat this a few times. Dont ride it at any givven rpm for an extended amount of time. After a hand full of hard runs change the oil and call it good.

Cool well I rode it all day sunday babying it so looks like I should change my oil/filter and give it some hell . How many hours you got on yours? Is it holding up good?

I just sold my '04 limited edition one......they are sure a kick in the pants. I got the Raptor for the same reason you did.......REVERSE!! Trail riding sucks when you get hung up and have to jump off everytime to push it back.

I like your color scheme....looks sweet!

I bought a yamaha hour meeter that is easy to install. I just ran out and checked the thing and it says 32 hours but that is probobly abought 20-30 hours short of actual because I dident get it on for several months after I bought it and that is when I rode it most.

My only complaint so far is that it boils gas and vapor locks if riding slowely. If you keep some air flowing over it it is fine but at slow speeds it boils the gas. yamaha cant seem to get it fixed for me so this spring it is going down the road and ime getting a Renagade,,, that is if I dont get laid off here in the next few months.

How long does it take to unlock after vapor locking? i'll have to remember that I have noticed that it tends to getr warm with no airflow. I guess I need to get me an hour meter for mine how much did you spend? Thanks

I had an 02' a few years back and man that thing would fly. When i sold it she had full skids, bumper and grab bar, white bros grapics, sprockets, chain, douglas rear rims, holeshots, full pro-circuit t-4, billet foam filter adpt, jet kit. When i put on the exh, filter, and jet kit, it straight up pulled hard, Tourqe was as close to a modded diesel as you could get Some A-arms and ext. axle would set that thing up for some serious riding. Have fun -Jake
