Got my chance

Last night we had dinner at Red Lobster as we where being seated noticed an Air force sgt and his wife/ girlfriend also having dinner.
I asked our waitress to please have their tab brought to our table to be paid by me anonymously.
Maybe I started a new trend ,I hope so.
None of the wait staff could believe that I would do such a thing for someone that I did not know. I guess that proves that most young people still don’t get it.

I don’t know how it made him feel but it made me feel better just knowing that he knows that someone appreciates the job that he and all our Military is doing.

When I was stationed at MCAS Cherry Point, a bunch of us barracks rats went out to dinner, probably 12-15 of us. Some guy walked up to the table, said, "Thanks for your service... dinner's on me," and he tossed our reciept on the table and walked off. We sat there stunned for a second, and then we tried to chase him down, but too late. Made us feel really good.

I haven't yet had the opportunity to do that. I'd like to though and will keep my eye out more often.

That was a nice gesture on your part, one I make from time to time myself

I do the same with Law Enforcement or anyone who walks the line so we don't have to. All these people get a great deal of grief in their jobs, a simple gesture like this can go a long way toward reminding them what they do is not taken for granted by everyone.

And it makes you feel pretty darn good too

Boy ain't that the truth. Bigfoot ... that was a very kind gesture and you made that young man realize that every sacrifice that he has made so far was worth while.

God bless our young men and women in harms way. May they all make it home to enjoy the freedoms that they are working so hard to preserve.

When we came home from the first Gulf war we had to wear our unifroms on the plane trip home. My buddy had a few minitures of Jack Daniels. Well, we were spotted by the stewardess drinking them. Thought we were in trouble. She must have told the pilot/co-pilot because he came out with a big bottle of champaign and we got a nice round of applause from the passengers.. ..
By the time we got off the plane in Pittsburgh , along with a layover at the bar in Chicago, we were pretty loaded... Drunken sailors at our finest hour for sure !!!!
