I work for a mobile home company so my work is childs play compared to what you do. Scary thing to me is, that when i graduated from tech school i was prolly on that level, but after 4 years of not using all the doo dads that AutoCAD has, i have forgot a lot of it.
Those screen shots appear to be the layout of a building or set of buildings.. How far off base am I?

Just found this web site. I have limited experiance with MODELCAD but have lost the program and and had to reload my computer (how do you lose a bright yellow box?). I might try a few of these.

SolidWorks is what we bought to use and it works great. When I was a college student I bought SolidEdge which is fairly close to SolidWorks and it worked out really good. Anvil and BobCad is good for some things but harder to use and not as easily 3D.
Check out this site with tons of open source free ware. They list some free CAD programs and there may be something in there just right for you

A friend of mine works for a consulting firm and is using a package called CadWorx. It's pretty impressive for structural, piping and HVAC.
We're just wrapping up a $65M expansion to one of the mines up north. We're starting on another expansion to the same mine right away. The uranium industry is booming. China is screaming for electricity. There's close to 50 companies exploring the Athabasca Basin in northern Saskatchewan right now.
And then there's the oil industry in Alberta. That's a whole other story. I've heard rumors that they're building a 5000 man camp in Ft. McMurray. There's money to be made up here.
