glock 21 mods

I just purchased a glock 21 two weeks ago and im in love w/it already, i havent bought any accessories for it, just two extra factory 13 round magazines, i was thinking about getting a different grip for it possibly a Hogue style grip, and a night sight of some sort. What do yall think about it all?

Ammo. Lots and lots of ammo.

In my opinion the G21 grip is already too big. Adding a slip-on grip to it would only make it worse. If you need something to give you more grip I would recommend a section of bicycle inner tube. You can cut it to fit and it will give you some grip without adding a lot of bulk. I have used the ribbed section of the inner tube in the past and really liked the way it felt.

After shooting lots and lots of ammo down range with it, I'd add the following:

- Night Sights
- Extended Slide Stop Lever (Slide Release)
- Jentra Grip Plug (just cosmetics)

Then I'd shoot lots and lots of ammo down range with it...again.

Those three things are the only things I change on my Glocks.

I have changed just about ever part on my 21, except the grips...although my Brother's Kimber 1911 fits my hand better than the bigger Glock, I still like mine better. Shoots just as nice, holds more rounds, and is tough as nails to boot.

Mine had the factory adjustable sights, so I'm not gonna change those out for night sights. HOSS's suggestion on the slide release is a good one though, and if you like that you might try an extended mag release.

Chris

BTW, all those parts I changed on the inside...striker, recoil spring, trigger, etc...the only thing that made a real noticeable difference, was the 3.5lb trigger connector...it made the trigger pull lighter and nicer to shoot.

Get a reloading press!

I got a G36 a few weeks ago and have fed it a steady diet of ammo. Lots of fun although the little 6rd magazines are a little annoying.

The G21 was like handling a 2x4 and I didn't like it at all. The 36 with its single stack magazine is awesome, more like a 1911 and close to my S&W MP.45. Its only 3/4" or so longer than my S&W 642 .38 Special and a little narrower as well. Its a little heavier but nothing bad.

Mine has night sights and hits pretty much point of aim out to about 25 yards. Its pretty light for a .45 so a few magazines of anything stout is going to get tiring.

I agree that an extended slide release would be beneficial and the grip plug is a plus too!

I, too, have a G36. I like it's concealability but when it comes to shooting I much prefer my G17. The grip of the G17 fits my hand perfectly and I love the low recoil of the 9mm. I'm extremely accurate with it even while shooting on the move. If the grip on the G36 was a little longer I'd probably like it more, but then it wouldn't be as concealable. Still a good gun though. I carry mine when I can't quite conceal the G17 but still want something bigger than my KT P3AT.

I agree. Stock up on ammo, more ammo, and reloading components. Feed it 5000rds, cleaning it after about every 500. That'll be the best mod. If you really feel the need to buy something else, get a couple more extra mags (I try to keep a minimum 5 mags per pistol) and maybe a nice holster or two that's to your liking.

I had an instructor at one of my tactical traning classes who used my G23. He said, "Nice smooth trigger job, which one is it?" I said, "It's the well-broken-in trigger job." Bone stock. No mods. Just lots of ammo and training.

No Tactical Tupperware is complete without these.

I'm a 1911 fan.

I've seen that before. It's pretty cute.

Personally, on a carry gun I run the stock mag release. I haven't had any issue finding the stock button, so I guess I haven't felt any need to mess with it or possibly make it easier to bump accidentially when holstered.

It's a personal preference thing, though. You could always try one, and if you don't like it you can switch back and not have spent much.

I used a hogue on one of the early 22's, but on the newer guns with finger grooves I don't use one, especially on the large frame guns.

Lastly, if this is a carry gun for sure get a set of night sights.

I don't like the extended mag releases. In my experience they either interfere with the holster or if they don't interfere with the holster they poke you in your side while you're carrying.

Forget about accessories. Here's your "to buy" list:

ammo
more ammo
more full-capacity mags
training
spare parts
more glocks or other semi-auto pistols
ar-15's, AK-47's, Mini-14, and other semi-auto rifles
more ammo
yet more ammo

get the important stuff while you can, because depending on what happens in November, it might be 1994 all over again. And then it will be very difficult or impossible to buy any more of the items I listed above.

Did I mention to get ammo?

No kidding. I bought myself a Colt LE 6920 back in January because I was afraid that Obama or Hillary would get in and make them illegal again. A few days ago I ordered ten 30 round magazines for said gun because I read that there is already a push to reinstate the AWB and they're not even in office yet. Truthfully, I don't even need the Colt. I just wanted to get ONE while I still could. I've never even shot it.

What I REALLY need to do now is start stocking up on ammo, but the stuff is just so expensive right now I can't really afford to buy it in the quantities I'd like to buy it in. I also need to get some more magazines for my G17.

Sadly, you're right. I have both Glocks and Colt 1911's. I absolutely love my 1911's. What great pistols they are! Every red-blooded American should have at least one .45 Auto 1911. I can carry any of my Glocks or 1911's. That said, I still reach for my Glocks for carry. And if I had to choose one to bet my life on, it would have to be the tactical tupperware Glock.
