glad to be a dtr member

Wow I just went to dodge truck world.com and man am I glad to be a dtr member. Not tryen to bash buy its like a giant advertisment on that site. I understand that a site must make money but I just felt that I had to say when my computer takes longer to load a page due to it having a bunch of advertisments I dont think its for me. I just hope DTR doesnt get like that.

Me too. I'm also a member of "the other diesel site" but never post over there because I think this one has better info and more traffic.

I had a neat run in the other day. I was at Sonic and noticed a truck across from me had the TDR sticker on it and he noticed mine about the same time. Anyway, we struck up a conversation and found out he was just passing through on his way back to Dallas so I told him to stop by my work and talk trucks sometime. Low and behold he shows up today and we chatted for an hour or so. Pretty cool meeting a fellow member in a small town in the middle of nowhere.

I told him about this site and he was going to check it out. So Devin if you're reading this, C-ya next time.

But it does smell better than the average thread. It's fixed.

I started getting a ton of spam and weird stuff after I had joined "the other" site. Turns out their default was to allow others to see your email address when they clicked on your name in the members list so you have to manually change it. By then it was too late.

...Reminds me...Two cannibals are eating a clown when one turns to the other and asks 'Does this taste funny to you?'

We do a few things differently around here to avoid that problem. We limit the file size of an advertising vendors banner because we know a good portion of our members are on dial up.

I routinely get sent banners from vendors that advertise on other sites, that are 3 to 10 times larger than we allow on this forum. The other forums run them all the time that big, but we know that nobody wants to sit and wait for that stuff to load

Those other places all do their own things, their own way and we don't assume to even suggest they do things any differently than they are now, frankly it isn't any of our business one way or the other.

We just try to do things the way we see fit and hope for the best and at the same time wish them all the best of luck with their success as well. So please let's not change the focus of this thread and try to turn it into a bashing thread against any other forum

I do like the fact that I don't have to buy a 90" monitor to be able to read the site because of the size of the ads.
