here in Sacramento, prices have actually gone down a few cents, I am buying unleaded for the commuter car for $1.97 and diesel is $1.75, still costs me $80 a week for gas just to commute back in forth to work, if I drive the old 86 F250 with the 4.10s, its about $115 a week

Okay, here's MY rant on the subject;

You know all the politicians that decry the high fuel prices and say that they are or WILL do whatever they can to help lower the prices? How come they never bring up the fact that a good percentage of the price of fuel is comprised of state and federal taxes? I know in Massachusetts, there's a combined 46 cent PER GALLON tax! Relaxing or eliminating those taxes would be a good solution, wouldn't it? As I understand it, those taxes are SUPPOSED to be used, in part, for the maintenance of the roads we're driving on. As someone who spends a good deal of time traveling the east coast and as far west as Mississippi, I can tell you first hand, the roads SUCK!

And as long as I'm ranting, , another thing that drives up the cost of EVERYTHING for all of us is all the truck restrictions imposed on heavy vehicles. There are so many places you aren't supposed to drive a heavy truck, that it often adds HOURS to delivery time, not to mention the multitude of 'DOT truck check' and 'weigh stations'. Add to this the 'regular' restrictions and rules that have to be followed, along with the paperwork that accompanies it all, and DAYS are added to delivery times instead of hours. And guess who pays for all this time? US! THink about it; every single thing we use in daily life, comes to us via truck. There is nothing that I can think of that doesn't spend time on a truck at some point.

Awright, I'm done now!

chaikwa.

heh, after all that ranting, I forgot to mention that when I went up to Grand Rapids last night I saw that premium unleaded is now 2 bucks a gallon, first I've seen of that in this state.

In the news yesterday I read that gas prices in some parts of the US are now at all time highs and expected to go higher. Maybe we are going to see that $3 gas I mentioned earlier? Sure hope not as that is going to drastically restrict my plans for heading way north later this year.

well here i go I truly believe that we as the country have the power to do and change whatever we want to. BUT there are way to many babies out there that will not get involved too afraid of what might happen. alone you are weak but in numbers we are powerful. i rememeber when the trucks changed everything.

now get this down the road from me shhhhhh there is an amoco gas staion and they sell diesel at 1.63 per gal but they also sell non highway diesel at 1.29 per gal. so farm guys and all diesel machinery can use as much as they want for 34 cent a gallon cheaper? if they can afford to sell it to them at that price they sure as hell can sell it to anybody for the same price.

once they are charging us more it is almost impossible to get them to lower prices becuase they get way to used to spending our money ! looks like we need a pay increase george. real tuff screwing the american public well need more money for an extra vacation this year.

well i will stop here need a cold shower now

Check this out Calif. tax .18
Fed. tax .34
calif. sales tax .0825

Total .6025 per gallon in taxes alone!
So we're paying probably the highest taxes in the country and have the worst roads.

I don't think your roads are as bad as the ones in Michigan.

Do you mean you have more moey in your pocket now so you can afford to buy fuel, or was that a shot at George Bush, receiver of all critisism for everything anyone can possibly attribute to him?
