FYI: '04 Durango Sales Halted

From USATODAY WEBSITE

FYI:
This is a separate recall from the other one announced on CNN's website yesterday (although it was talked about way down at the bottom of the article, the CNN article only stated about 5000 Durangos were affected, this one says about 21,000).
It involves the V6 and the 4.7-liter V-8 engines (not the Hemis apparently)

Excerpt from the article:

"DETROIT — Chrysler Group Tuesday ordered its dealers to stop selling its redesigned 2004 Dodge Durango sport-utility vehicle because of a defect that could cause the vehicle to crash.
Separately, the automaker recalled 2.7 million 1993-1999 passenger cars because of a problem with a floor-mounted shifter.

Chrysler must replace the throttle control cable in the Durango because of a water leak that can freeze the cable in cold temperatures, leaving the throttle open and possibly causing a "crash without warning," according to a directive sent to dealers. The fix must be made to 21,000 vehicles with 3.7-liter V-6 and 4.7-liter V-8 engines that either were delivered to customers or are sitting on dealer lots...."

Also,
Anyone with one of the V6 or 4.7 liter V-8's should get it checked. The article said the problem exists on units that have already been sold.

Exclamation Talk about a rush!,,,,,,,,,,,,

I imagine that half way into the off-ramp exit,,,,,,,,,,,,, the sound of your HEMI not slowing down would make for an interesting morning commute!

I was always impressed with the older hemis, but these new ones are so overhyped, it's not even funny. I've never driven one, but I hear that after drivetrain loss, they're not that impressive. Am I right or wrong?

This is a weak pretender to the throne.

I don't think the new hemi is that impresive either after test driving one.
I also know a guy that bought one for towing a 27' 5er and a 16' boat. He traded it for a durtymax.
