Fuel Prices
Fuel Prices
When I bought my truck last month, I was getting diesel for about $.30 or more less than Unleaded. No the price difference is around $.05 per gallon. Why does Unleaded fluctuate and Diesel doesn't? So during this last month Diesel dropped about a nickel per gallon while Unleaded dropped about thirty cents per gallon... :-

Supply and demand plus competition. There isn't nearly as much demand for diesel at most stations so they don't monkey with the price as much.
The competition for gasoline is so high that the stations watch each other and try to be the price leader. There isn't much competition for diesel as many stations don't even list the price out front.
Diesel also goes up in the fall/winter because of the demand for fuel oil to heat houses. There isn't much demand for fuel oil in Las Vegas, but they will still increase the price.
The price for diesel here in Minneapolis goes sky high in the winter due to winter fuel and the demand for fuel oil. Last winter I paid as much as 25 cents a gallon more than unleaded.
