I was paying $1.19 last summer compared to $1.54 now.

At these prices the oil companys are raping us...and the states are not helping...some states even tax the tax on fuels...and why does diesel cost more then gas since its not refined as much...even the tax rate by the states is higher on diesel then gas...comsumer products are moved by truck if trucks stopped moving because of fuel costs the impact on this nation would be great :-[

http://api-ec.api.org/filelibrary/gastax01JF.pdf

http://api-ec.api.org/filelibrary/MFT72001.pdf

Current taxes by state as of 1/7/03
http://api-ec.api.org/filelibrary/MFT10703.pdf

Re:Fuel Prices
Went to fill up at Southern States Coop. this morning and the pump read 1.64 per gal, I pumped 5 gals in and went to pay. The lady at the register said that it was going up .10 on Monday to 1.74 per gal here. At Speedway yesterday I paid 1.49 per gal. I am going back to Speedway later today
Re:Fuel Prices
Pappyman
The reason that the taxes on diesel IS so high is because the big trucks use it. The government figured that they are a cash cow. It is like tires. They are taxed extra if the carcass weighs over 100#. Who uses them? Class 8 trucks. In the end we all get it in the ......... You know the saying.
BTW I was getting fuelyesterday and got done paying $1.659 and the sign was getting changed to $1.699 before I got back to my truck.

Pappyman,

Those are some interesting statistics on diesel tax by states. Looks like diesel gets a kick in the hinder, because in most states it seems to get taxed a few cents more. Not too many where it is less than the gas tax. The price here in Texas wouldn't be bad if I could get rid of the 44.4 cents per gallon between the fed and the state. These prices could eat a fixed income up quick.

Tom
