With friends like this......

This story (with video) is on the local NBC website. A bear walks up to 3 campers sleeping on the ground (without a tent) and bites at one, waking him up. The camper scares him away with whistle. The whole time, some idiot is video taping the whole thing and never warns the sleeping campers!!! All he can mutter is (I think) "Oh my God" several times.
If I was one of the sleeping campers, I believe I would have beaten the videographer with his own camera.

"The bear was later captured and killed"?
I think they should capture and kill the camera man...........
I'm not sure why the bear needs to die here? The campers are in his enviroment and no one is seriously injured?

Because people aren't smart, and they think that the bear might present a danger to some other group of idiots. I guess when they protect people, they feel that they have to protect from the dumbest to the smartest.

How do they know they captured and killed the same bear? The story states that the idiots waited over a week before reporting the incident. What a bunch of morons!

Any 140lb. bear will do, I guess they just wanted revenge against nature for being Wild ?

What are the stats on bear "attack" anyway? It has to be more dangerous to sleep in the woods in Jersey than to swim in the Ocean in Florida right?

I hate it when this happes.... some idiot would much rather make a few bucks selling his tape to the news outlet than help his fellow man... and then the "campers" violated the #1 rule.... lay still and let him sniff you.... the bear would have eventually gone away, but NO... they had to move... scare the bear, causing the bear to bite in defense.... what does the bear get? the death sentance....

We interrupt this post for a late breaking news report!

Camper mauled by bear!
Apparently, the cause for the vicious attack was due to the man’s videotape being replaced with honeycomb.

I get really irritated when I hear about a wild animal being killed because it attacked. It's like the authorities are trying to weed out the meat-eating predators and let the vegetarians live nearby. It's the policitians who set the crappy rules to kill an animal for attacking, too. Great solution.

Save a bear - Kill a politician.

see now none of you that responded are from the most densely populated state in the nation, New Jersey is at a crisis stage here, only one bear hunt in the last thirty five years or so. and last year they shut it down again, too many bears, check that, tooooooooo many people not enough space for both guess who looses? well this year they may bring back the hunt and "attacks" as trivial as it may look can only get worse, who is to say how you would feal if it was your child that was the first to die from an attack? the population has been quickly growing and their habitat is diminishin as fast so numbers must be kept in check, we are their only predators left in the state, well us and vehicles.

Didn't Camden dethrone Baltimore (or is it D.C?) as the muder captial?
Sounds like they are "weeding out" the humans a bit too??
Baltimore averages about 350-370 a year I think, but no bears down that way.....
If a human attacks another human what does society say we should do with them?
Answer= slap on the wrist, right? And WE are the civilized ones??
