Free Elections In Iraq!
I just heard there is a 72% voter turn out in Iraq. That is fantastic for a war zone! When you have people trying to kill you if you vote! In the US we are lucky to get 30%! My hats off to the service men and women who have made this possible! This is one HUGE step towards getting out troops home. My hat is also off to the Iraqi people and their struggle to overcome 50 years of dictatorships.
Everyone said it was too soon, that security was not good enough, that no one would vote, yada, yada, yada.
I think Bush got it right ....again.

I only hope it's not like old Chicago........
You know,...... the same 100 people voting 1,000 times.
Also, old saying....Be careful what you ask for, you might get it.
Hoping for a calmer, less radical political climate after the elections.

I don't know. I got to watch FOX last night for a little. They had this old, scary looking prison-like building with about five streamers and ballot tables and about two people in the background. The reporter,
"The voter turn-put is amazing. Look behind me to see thousands of Iraqi's voting for the first time in this festive atmosphere."
I was sitting there, looking at five streamers in a prision and two voters, going "uh-huh...".
FOX was definitly playing it up from what I saw. Actually, it was kind of pathetic.

From what I understand, the voters have to dip their finger in blue permanent dye before voting.
It's "to prevent people from casting multiple votes"......
Could also be reeeeeal effective in helping the losing party round up citizens tomorrow who had the audacity to exercise their right to vote, and let them conduct an "Iraqi exit poll".

Heard today that it was 60%. They had predicted 57%. Last November, US participation was 53%. Yes, we ought be ashamed of ourselves. Espcecially those who didn't vote and whine about the outcome.
