Not to beat a dead horse but orange colored Fram filters are junk. Their higher grade filters are actually pretty good.

My dad and I had a company that we recycled the used oil filters for the scrap. I did this for 12 yrs. I have see every type of oil filter on the market. FRAM has ALWAYs been the worst. If you look closely on the box.. These filters are not recomemded for high oil pressures or extended run times between changes. Problem is they use carboard for end caps and a leaf spring for pressure to seal filter media against cap. after a short time in oil... it breaks down and oil will leak past. Fram only makes 1 filter like everyone else. It's called the Extra life. What that is.... The filter core has metal end caps and a coil spring for better seal. I have always used Napa, baldwin, Wix, Fleetgaurd... and a few more... They all use better filter media which means more paper to filter with and metal caps and always coil springs. Why coil springs vers. leaf?? Coil will apply more pressure to hold the media core against the rubber seal inside without losing pressure over time. no pressure.... you have no filtering..... I have never seen a metal cap with leaf spring. It's just not bulit that way. You must say tho. Fram has done a great job marketing the crap. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. Don't buy cheap to protect your pride and joy. My 2 cents.

Fram Oil filter, and K&N air filters, are the two things my truck will NEVER see. When it comes to filtration, I only use top quality units... Usually from Amsoil.

A guy I know used to work in a filter factory. They basically made one kind of oil filters, the only thing they changed was color of paint, not sure which brands they were, but just FYI.
Im sure some filters are better than others.

After studying bobstheoilguy.com the fram extreme guard filter is the only decent fram filter.

Yup. Thats all I ever used on my gassers. Our Subaru has 285k miles on it using mostly Frams changed every 3k miles. After seeing that I certainly wont put one on my truck.

I have a friend with a race car he was changing the oil and used a fram filter. When he started it the motor had very little oil pressure and then he changed the filter and it was right back to normal. I have read alot of bad info on from filters on just about every forum I belong to. It is amazing that people still buy them at all.

Yep been long known they suck. Actually had a guy at work debating with me that they are 'decent' stuff. Nice guy, didn't feel like arguing it with him any longer.

Isn't that the same type of filters that we use for the coffee in the breakroom?
