Forum Tips

I still get the question a lot by new users etc, "How can I go directly to the new posts in a thread, instead of having to wade through the old stuff?"

The answer to this is very simple. You have two ways of getting to a thread. You can click on the thread name, and by doing this, you'll always be taken to the first post in the thread. Everybody knows how to do this.

However, there is another way to get in a thread, and only see the new posts since your last visit. Whenever you see this image: next to a thread name, you have the option of clicking on the button. By doing this, you're taken to the newest post in the thread since your last visit. Hope this helps.

Re:Forum Trick

I like getting caught up first in the areas of my interest and then I go to the last 10 post's area at the bottom of the forums page. I click on that and then refresh the page every now and then. This way I see all the new post's as they happen, in all the catagories.
If I want to add my two cent's I reply to one & then start the process over again.
Pretty smart huh? ;D

Now if I could just learn how to tie my shoes.....

Re:Forum Trick

yeah really, thanks for sharing Jack! Where's that button been hiding all this time??? Hey, is there anyway you can put a dot or something on a thread that we have posted on (kinda' like the "other" site)? Like a reminder? Instead of being notified by email?

Tony

I've been a faithful member of this board for the past 10 months and you just now tell us this? Do you have any idea how frustrating it was to have to scroll through the old posts.

Re:Forum Trick

One small note for those of you who surf through here when your at another PC (like at work), If you are not logged onto the site with your username,,,, the little button will not show up. I know a lot of folks select the Always stay logged in checkbox at home, but may not log on to just take a quick look for new posts when at work. (Those of you who only spend your time here when at work,,,, and you know who you are, probably already know this.
And another thing to remember is that if you select Always stay logged in on your work computer, anyone who has access to that PC can post anything using your name or make changes to your profile (not a good thing depending on how much they like you or dislike you .) For example, I use a PC at work which is used by someone else on the next shift. Therefore, I always make sure to log off when I am through using it.
