Ford's problems continue to rise...

Excerpt from news article...

"Implicit in the production cutbacks are expectations of continued weak pickup sales that have resulted in extended inventories," the agency said. "Volume declines in Ford's pickup segment, along with continued declines in mid-size and large SUVs, are likely to accelerate revenue declines and negative cash flows in 2006."

The 6.0 is not helping.

Hey - don't forget about the crappy head design puking spark plugs on their gassers...

http://www.consumeraffairs.com/autom...ord_spark.html

http://subscript.bna.com/SAMPLES/pld...a?OpenDocument

The latest on this is that the NHTSA closed their investigation into this defect, because it wasn't generally a SAFETY issue...

http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/pr...h&summary=true

So I guess it's OK to screw your customer out of $3K every time one of these plugs pukes out the side of the block, just so long as it isn't a safety issue.

I was really looking into a new Mustang GT for a 'fun' car. I thought it'd look cool sitting next to the truck. But the more I read about Ford and the crap they're pulling I'm really leaning toward spending a few thousand more and getting a Charger R/T. Besides I'm getting old and the four doors aren't looking so bad these days :-)

I actually just saw one of these Chargers all dolled up as a Police Car!! It looked fantastic - as though it had been designed for this duty all along. nice ride, I must say...

Well, at least that's one problem the 6.oh noers won't have to deal with!!! Seriously, losing power in the middle of an intersection or on an on ramp is clearly a safety issue.

There are a couple of departments in my neck of the woods that are using them right now as unmarked cars. One of my friends was speeding down one of our local highways and wondered to himself why a brand new Charger was broken down on the side of the road... Until he saw the A-Pillar light... By then it was too late.

The Charger police cars have the 'normal' Hemi engine and the SRT-8 suspension. The cop that pulled him over said he LOVED driving it, especially compared to the Crown Vics. He got to drive it as sort of a 'reward' for being Officer of the Month or something like that. My friend chatted with him so long about the Charger the guy let him off with a warning.
