Ford now owns Cummins
Saw it this morning on CNN market news as I was walking out the door. I literally almost fell off my deck. Now I am truelly in mourning. I can't believe it. The "Diesel Stop " must love the news.

If it is true is it such a bad thing? Maybe they'll finally junk the flowerpoke and put our beloved Cummins in their trucks!

Actually, that's probably a good point... I wish you could get a Cummins in an older 1 or 3/4 ton Ford.
Well, actually Ford's new trucks seem to fall apart like clockwork every 100,000 miles and their quality control would turn the Cummins into a boat anchor, so I totally retract my previous statement...

I now find myself echoing these words;

Ford bought Cummins several years back. The 2005 model year will be the last for the CTD Dodge truck. The only way that Ford allowed Dodge to continue to use the CTD was due to pre existing licensing/contracts between Cummins and Dodge before the sale. Mercedes is the natural replacement but also heard from a CAT dealer that CAT and Dodge are developing a small diesel for the 3/4 and 1 ton truck. Should be interesting.

I heard that the 2007 Dodge will be coming out with a 6 wheel drive nuclear fusion prototype. It gets 500,000 miles before requiring any fueling and can also power a small rural town from the 7 pin connector on the back bumper.
