Unhappy Ford F-150 Electrical Problem....help !!!

Hey all, I have just purchased a 1989 Ford F-150,(it's for the wife before you start giving me a hard time) The truck is in good shape, it's an XLT with all the options and everything works, BUT.....it seems to have a 12 VOLT electrical DRAW on it somewhere.....The truck has NOT been tampered with as far as any ADD ONS, or electical gadjets, all of the wiring harness's look to be factory, NOTHING seems to have been touched or cut into, I put a NEW BATTERY in it when we bought it because there was none in the truck, I also had the alternator rebuilt, but since this DRAW problem I have unplugged it and let the truck sit to see if it was the problem, but it still goes DEAD, seem to take about 2-3 days before it's totally dead.....I have checked alot of things, but cant find anything that looks out of the ordinary, I was just wondering if there was something that is real common with these trucks ???? Hope someone can help.....You know what it is like to have a WOMEN ****** off at you, especially if you have to live with her.....HELP ME !!!!

Sometimes the fuel pump relay would stick. Or the EEC relay. Pull the neg cable, put a test light in between the cable and the battery, and it should glow dim. Yank fuses until it does. You will then know where the draw is. Does it have an external regulator?? What engine? Glove box light? Map light?

EEC=Electronic Engine Control. Your 89 had the same computer that my old 90 F150 had. The EEC-IV. The EEC relay is waht puts power to the computer. If it was stuck on then you would have a draw on the battery.

Thumbs up Thanks....I think !!!

THANKS TO SPOTS AND JRS DIESEL DODGE, I beleave that the EEC relay is NFG, we put the ohm meter on it and it had 160 ohms on it, guessing that would be the same as an interior light being left on, I put a new relay in and will wait to see what happens.......Many thanks Guys......I got another problem with My 1995 Dodge Intrepid if you want to take a shot at that too.....???? Let me know, I dont want to be a bother.......Shawn...canucktrucks
