i have a double bottom semi trailer bring in 21 cord everyfall (1600 dollars). It comes in 8' seasoned logs averaging 10" in diameter.
We have an outside woodburner that will take a 4' piece but 4' pieces get pretty heavy so what we do is cut the 8' logs into 3 pieces and split the few logs that get to the 12"diameters.

It would probably be very expensive because of the distance to an oak tree. You burn what's around.

I don't wanna hijack this thread, but how do you guys find customers for your firewood? I see that some have a contract with a business or etc. I will have a long Christmas vaction this year, and I need something to do. I guess that I have never checked the classifieds. Do people, who are looking for firewood, ever put wanted ads in there?

humm... ive never seen any want ads here. Just all i can tell ya is to put up some flyers at like wall mart or for sale ads in the newspaper.

i have racks on my truck that has "Blevins Firewood Sales" with my phone number on it. So this doubles as a billboard and racks that hold the wood.

I dont cut much for individuals, theres not as much money in it

Here it is Dec. 3rd and I'm burning "trash wood" to heat the house! I've got pine from some trees that had nematods in them, I've got maple, elm and sycamore that I cleaned out of the creek to clear the water gaps this summer. When it gets cold I'll burn osage orange (hedge). Only takes probably 4 cords all winter and my furnace never comes on. I have an insert custom built for the fireplace that extends 15" inside on the hearth, is double lined with an adjustable blower.

Burning pine today. It's 12 deg. out right now and it's 76 in here!

To burn ten cords in Oklahoma you'd have to be heating the state capital building and keeping it 80 degrees!!!

I've seen guys around here stack wood out by the street against a tree, about 3 1/2 feet up and out about 3' and sell it for 35.00. It'll be gone in a day or so if the weather is cooling off. Stop by some of the 7-11 stores. They may be interested in purchasing some, Or the Caseys Store. Put a cheap add on your local cable TV.

I don't use the spliter much. If I can pick it up, it goes in.

Oak is about $150 - $175 a cord around here delivered.
