Finally Saw the Space Station

I had read somewhere that the space station is the third brightest object in the sky. And after sundown when the sun is still lighting the sky above, you can see it go over. I was outside a few minutes ago and saw an object, very bright, crossing the sky. It was traveling in the direction that a lot of flights coming from LAX go over this area. But it had no navigation lights flashing. And no jet engine sounds after it passed. Checked the NASA -JSC site and sure enough, it had just passed. Thought that was pretty cool. You can check out the link and see when it's going to be visible from where you are.

The wife and I saw it a few years back when we were in Colorado. It was traveling from north to south if I remember correctly? It was a pretty awesome sight. Didn't take it too long to travel across the sky. Here is a good site for tracking things in the sky.

I've watched it from my boat with binoc's off a dark mountain lake with no lights around. I was amazed how much detail I could make out with 20 power glasses

Great environment for watching satellites and meteors as well...cold beer, couple fishing poles out for some big cats and Pink Floyd on the stereo

That's neat. Coolest thing I ever saw was a pretty good meteor shower several years ago. We went way out where there are few lights and were able to see them much better. I think there were around 6-8+ per minute that night.

me and my g/f will sit under the stars on a nice clear summer night by a fire and stare up at the stars. It's cool to see how many things are actually moving up there.
