Finally got a job!

Finally got a job after placing several several applications, Walked into the local Napa auto parts. And asked if they needed help, and they said they need a helper in the machine shop. Went in the back and talked to the machinist for 2 hours and i'm Hired

I start tomorrow, 3-6pm until schools out on the 15th, then i'll be working full time 5 days a week if i choose, and optional saturday when he's not there, He said it will only take me a week to learn how to turn rotors/drums/flywheels etc......Stuff i can when he's not there on saturdays.

He said he's very flexible on hours etc, Basicly i'm an assistant and will be doing cleaning etc. and smaller jobs for now anyways, I'm good with that.

I'm ecstatic, couldn't be better timing either as my GMC is gone and new cummins is on the road! Should be getting around 17-19 mpg back and forth. about 10 miles each way which ain't too bad. 20 miles total a day, pretty much a gallon each day.

Brandon

Congrats!

Pay attention, especially if your mentor is good. It is awfully hard to find a good machinist today.

Especially an enthusiast ( gearhead ) machinist.

Neat stuff! Far better working someplace where you can learn new things.

Awesome!

One of the most fun jobs Ive ever had was working at Autozone for about a year while going to UL Lafayette. Made a bunch of friends and always had a good time.

Its a good feeling to earn a little pocket change and fix up your pride and joy!

This is very true, automotive machinists seem to be a dying trade. It hard to find one, even harder to find a good one.

Congrats Brandon, learn all you can. There's a one man shop down the road from me up here and he is so busy with work its almost ridiculous.

Congrats Brandon!

I worked at my local NAPA when I was about your age. Learned a lot more there than I did in trade school.
