fiances transmison trouble

I know nothing about vehicles but my fiance has a 98 mit. eclipse and she bought it used like in 03 has never changed the transmisson fluid ( its automatic by the way sorry) but her car is starting to slip should i get the fluid changed will it help or is it prob to late? thanks

changing the fluid might help but there is a chance the damage has been done also it could be caused from low fluid.

Depends how bad it is slipping.
Pull the dip-stick out and inspect the fluid for visual tarnish and smell it to see if it smells burnt. If it doesn't smell burnt and it isn't tarnished I would replace the fluid and filter.

Yep, i agree with Troutstrannysvc. Change the filter and fluid. There could be a chance the filter is clogged.
