Fall is falling

A bit early this year. The leaves are turning, and the fire weed is seeding out. Soon there will be snow on the upper peeks. Just got soaked by a typhoon remnant which means our winter is going to be cold and dry. Just spotted a new cat in the colony, another calico. I wish people would stop dumping them here. But I guess that is a problem everywhere. Animal shelters and foster homes are filled past capacity and more turned away.

Got the new feeding station for the stray cats set up. There are 8 of them now, that we know of not including my own. The new statin has a hinged lid and a cleanable interior. Both will make it easier on us.

We still a bit away from snow on the Mt tops, but it was 40F here this morning.

Starting to see the start of some good colors on the weaker trees.

I'm ready, I hope. Got my winter fuel mixed and in the trucks. Topped off the heating oil tank. That was painful $$$. Put the snowplow controls back in the first gen. All I have left is to put the plow frame on which takes about 15 minutes. Then put the winter tires on the vehicles. I won't do that until about the 1st of November or we get an earlier snow fall.

Snow level at 3500 feet on the North hills. A lot more snow on the higher South hills.

We have sense had rain turning to freezing rain turning to snow. Everything is covered in ice. Temperature peaking just barely above freezing in the late afternoon. Soon it will never get above freezing.

Want some mosquito larva for that pond? Our tiny calico colony cat has been taken into foster care. Good thing, just before the ice storm. She is going through "the process" before she can be rehomed. Health check, litterbox training, and so on. She is going to make a good companion for someone.

I never knew that after I retired I would have so much worry over cats. Our cat colony queen has blessed us with 2, maybe 3 more kittens. They are just old enough to be out and exploring with mother. If it where summer or at least spring, I wouldn't worry too much about it. But winter is in full swing, and we are under a major storm warning for up to 18" of snow today into tomorrow.
