**snicker** Old, new, what's the difference? There's some tracks about a mile from here.

You could also easily do it by filling the pipe with concrete instead of tire weights. The guy I heard of doing it was a tire guy and had lots of tire weights laying around. I don't know what an 8" pipe full of concrete would weigh, but I bet it would help.

Good thought. The 100 lb. rail that most of the Class I railroads use would give you 500-600 pounds if you had a 5 or 6 foot section. It would take me a long time to cut it with my sawzall though.

My neighbor has a maple log chained to his 2wd flat bed. He did use binders.

I like the Train Rail idea on the receiver!! there are 3 sets of tracks within 3/4 mile from house... Hmmm with a long cord and a sawzall I could get a nice chunk. I mean with miles and miles of track I dont think they would miss 4-5 feet.. hmm now where is that long cord? LOL.

edit:
Thanks Alpine, I'll have to get some heavier straps untill I can come up with something differnt. Looking at the tie downs in the truck, I kinda figgured they would tear out of the bed if the straps did hold anyway. At least I have a tool box between me and the weights.

I knew a guy who dropped the lid of a concrete burial vault in his bed each winter....
