Ever forget to unplug your truck?
There you are Mr. Smarty Pants! Did you get my congatulation for beating them Longhorns the other day! Good job!
I've done it twice.
How many times have you drove off and jerked the extension cord out from under the garage door? Now I fold my mirror back when I plug in to remind myself to do something before taking off! Us okie's don't need the heat much, but for you guys in Canada that plug in all the time, I bet you are guilty a time or two!!!
Surely I'm not the only one!

what did the temp drop today? 40F?
This leads to a question, I still blow LOTS of white and it takes the same amt of time to warm up whether I plug in or not. Is there an easy way to see if its working other than climbing onto the engine and feeling the heater?
I have not done it yet but come close. As for tripping over it my cord is run across the barnyard so its under the dirt some were then comes out of the ground near my truck
ran in conduit of course
I have these velcro wraps that are from cactus ropes that are for holding the coils of your ropes so they don't get snarled up and i put one ant the 12 o clock spot on the steering wheel when I am plugged in.

I need another category!!
I have only done it once but I am pretty sure I have NOT learned my lesson. It WILL happen again. The first time I actually ripped half of the grill off. Thats OK I bought a new black one instead of chrome and I think it looks better. (Positive thinking).
Darn dirty ORANGE SNAKE!

Not yet, I park the truck up next to the pole barn where I have an outside outlet, leave enough space in front of the truck so that I have to walk between the truck and outlet which in turn I have to step over the cord so I try to remember what the cord is for and hopefully unplug it , so far so good "knock on wood" for luck.

We had a trickle charger, and engine heater. Plugged on the passenger side. We pulled that thing out so many times, I lost count. Finally brought one of my longer extension cords, and tied it around the front of the truck to the driver's window, and looped it around the steering wheel. Never forgot again.
Now that I have hooked up my block heater, and plugged it in for the first time, that is exactly how I drape the wire: across the mirror, and tuck a loop of extension cord into the driver's door handle. Can't miss it. HAVE to move it to get in the truck.

I see the big truck drivers place an ear near the cord, when they are plugging in.
They are listening for the current to "arc" in the split second before the conductors actually touch.
A heater that has burned out will not make this "arc".
Give it some time tho, I'll be joining you guys, Im sure
Tom
