I have bought and sold lots of things on Ebay and have never had a problem buying anything. Selling, I have had a few people not pay. No problem. I just get a credit for the fee from Ebay and relist the item.
That said, you have to be very careful....especially when buying. I'm pretty selective about who I will buy from. So far I've never had a problem.
