Morning all.

Thanks for the explanation in last week's thread on the g'mat Rick.

Getting ready to begin class for the day. This is the only hotel I've been to that supplies coffee cups that you can actually fit more than a teaspoon of coffee into! Their cups are regular convenience store 16 ounce cups with lids instead of sissy teacups and saucers. I'm in heaven!

Wink

mornin' fellers! vacation is done, Florida/Cozumel can get warmer now because we left. enjoyed the cruise experience, met a lot of good folks with tips on alaska travel. maybe pics sometime this week. good trip, although 25 mile a hour steady winds made for few beach goers....I was sand blasted clean. even the minnesota guys had coats on. still fun to walk the beach for shells and turtle eggs.

alligators left when we got to florida, only to show up on a hike where they were not supposed to be. fascinating creatures. glad we didn't seem to be a threat. we offered to stay and watch him/ warn folks. fun to learn from a pro, too! after the removal, we went to his family's wildlife place in the Everglades. very nice day! met wolves, a big bobcat, friendly cougars and hugged snakes to warm them. amazed to hear how people's pet pythons are killing florida's natural eco system. stole mice from the snakes (to keep them from growing) to encourage some play in the wolves. they loved it! one of their sons is building a 'treat box' now, out of cypress. it is like dental floss when chewed, and the mouse inside a maze is like a popular dog toy for dog treats. a great (big) family who has happy wolves, with a new shelter spot that they can get out of public view. wire fences can kill a wolf (gum infections) but mountain hemlock cannot be chewed on (like concrete) and comforts the wolf. We got to "hands on" learn the florida trees. amazing flora and fawna down there.

we still have some of the greatest decent folks left in this country and I think they came from Florida. maybe all 400 of fiverbob's family.who knows? (Fiver- we were on the gold coast from jupiter down to the keys then past Cuba out to cozumel) ah well back to real life. hope all is good for you guys!
ok- good employment to those who need it!

Not a problem Scott, glad you're liking the coffee cups. When you're on the road little things count.

Evening all.

Back home again. We decided to come home tonite instead of tomorrow morning because of the snow they're predicting.

Figured we might see Red on the road as we went by his exit just about the time he'd be heading to work.

Glad Heidi had a 'cool' vacation!

Sooooo... as you may know the Cincinnati region has been getting hammered with snow in the past couple of weeks. Both my wife and I have 4-wheel drive so I didn't think shoveling our gravel driveway was necessary. Well after recieving the last 10 inches of snow on top of the 10 we already had it was time. I decided to load up the Kabota tractor with a snow plow we have at work onto the old 30ft GN. After backing half way down our 300 ft long driveway the trailer slipped off the edge taking the truck with it. Before I knew it I burried the truck AND trailer AGAIN!! This time I was smart enough to drop the trailer before I tried to get unstuck. I tried using the wifes Envoy to pull out the truck but got it stuck in a snow drift as soon as I backed out of the garage. So now I have two vehicles stuck. Next option is the tractor but due to the slant of the stuck trailer it looked a little too dangerous even for me. About the time I started to lose my patience the neighbor shows up laughing his rear off. He thought the 45 degree angle of my headlights looked funny shinning through his bedroom window. My neighbor offers his help and goes back home to retreve his dumptruck. About 20 minutes later I was unstuck but the trailer was still burried.

Now its time to pull the trailer / tractor out. At this point I was about as patient as Chaikwa in a sheep pen. I balanced the tractor on the trailer just enough to allow the jacks to come off the gound. I then hooked up a rigging strap to the neck of the GN and pulled like crazy. After about 15 minutes later I had it back on the driveway and hooked back up to the truck.

Time for vehicle #2. This one was easy, I just used the tractor and pushed the Envoy back into the garage by its 2" reciever. The easiest thing I done all night.

It took about 3 hours to get everything unstuck and only took 10 minutes to plow the driveway. This time I managed not to destroy anything
