Hanging in there Blake, just tired. I have to keep the pressure on, working with "younger" folks. I'm the old guy so I can't let them out work me. The big problem with that is my mind is game but my body doesn't like to show up for the game.

I never mess with the older guys. Seen to many times where a young hotshot will think he knows best and do something halfway right, but take a rediculous amount of time and effort doing it, and the older guys with there infinite ninja knowledge come up with a super effective, minimal effort, spot on solution in minutes and make you look like a fool.

Mornin' All!
Busy start here this AM. Night shift got slammed right before shift change so I got the cleanup.... all done now so I can coast for a bit.
Gonna be nice outside again today. 25* above at 0430 again. Roads are NASTY (I can drift in the truck and only be spinning the tires at 15mph....)but that's to be expected. Same with the idiots who can't drive and pile up their cars.
Hauled fuel for the house last night. Looks like I'm only going through 2-2.5gal/day right now. Pretty good considering my boiler is over 20 years old and I'm heating just under 2000sqft. Still too bad fuel is so expensive......
I'll toss a pot of
in the reactor and see if it grows anything. Enjoy.

I've had a time with a couple of the regular employees already. One on another crew working the same project, just the other side of the road. We were carrying gravel into the area where the equipment will be set. The access road, more like a short driveway, was bad. I put 18" of 24 stone down and it still pumped under the weight of the backhoe. I capped it with about 4-6 inches of 610 and left it over night to freeze. The next day we started on the compound. The young guy watched me for a while with the backhoe. I'd drive up to the road and before I started onto it I'd shift to 1st gear and just crawl into the compound area, spread the stone and crawl back out, just as slowly. He jumped on the bobcat and ran wide open, both ways. Now a bobcat doesn't weigh what a backhoe does but the bouncing in and out started to take it's toll on the road. I stopped him after I couldn't take it any more and "explained" why I was moving in and out so slowly, that he should do the same and also why we needed to do it. You could see the anger in his eyes so his solution was to park the bobcat and pout.
Suited me just as well. The second guy was a newbie on my buddy's crew. He's just lazy, one of the types that is fascinated by work and could watch it for hours. After 2 days of seeing him stand and watch the three of us busting our butts, I just handed him a shovel and point at a couple small piles of dirt and said put the dirt in the dumpster. I was good until he rolled his eyes, then the top came off the bottle and the "bad" genie came out. It got ugly for a couple minutes until he got the message that I didn't owe him anything. If he wanted me to respect him as a "man", he needed to act like one and get with the program. He'll not be around long if he doesn't do a 180 fast.
Kinda of like this guy?? https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...s-t264155.html

That kinda stuff burns me to the core. Im young, and I am proud of where I have made it in my field of work, and have done it with hard work, long hours, lots of learning and integrity. I have never expected anyone to hand me anything or give me special treatment. I believe in ambition. No one owes you anything, especially respect, that must be earned.
