Morning all.
Wyo, to answer your question in more depth; The length of an EMT class can vary from class to class. Depends on how long the classes last each time and the availability of emergency room and ambulance ride time. 6 to 9 months is a pretty reasonable estimate, start to finish. Today's class was a refresher for existing EMT's.

Thanks for the info
TEN YEARS?? NO!~ If you get into a program, they *should* have the ER and ride time arranged. It's not usually up to the student to find a PLACE to go, just the TIME to go where the program sends them.
The length of the class depends most on the level that you are looking to take, MFR, EMT-B, EMT-I, or Paramedic.
For instance, my class for fire was volunteer, which was 36 hours. The class for level 1 fire, is 120 hours, level 2 fire is 240 hours.
IIRC, my basic EMT class took roughly a semester and a half to complete, at the most it should take about 1 year tops to get certified.
The EMS department at the college or training center, that you are taking the class through, will have a prearranged schedule with an ER and Ambulance service for your rotations.

Just a 'FYI';
MFR & EMT-I are more than likely going to be eliminated at the national level at least. In other words, states may opt to continue offering those levels of training, but they won't be recognized outside the state that issued the certification. National registry is hoping to consolidate some paperwork and redundancy I guess.
Again, each state can have their own specific parameters of training, but the Nationally accepted and/or accredited programs that are somewhat transferable around the country are requiring the 500+ hour Firefighter I & II course.
Not that any program is good or bad, just know what you're getting into when you take a course so that if you want to go somewhere else in the future, you aren't limited to a specific state only.

Anyone besides me ever notice that the end of the address in the address bar for the 'Other' forum is 'daysprune' ? What the heck is 'daysprune'? Does it change to 'nightsprune' after 6PM?

Evening Eric
I have a theory about the daysprune situation.
That shower he took the other day, well, His hair still aint dried, and has caused the water-logification of his brain.
