Matt,

In the right rifle thats a 1000 yard round. My old LT had a Remington 700 BDL set up for sniper that he could shoot that far out and score kill shots.

Never was a big fan of the 308. I like the 300 mags for the long shoots

I'm decent with a rifle and a shotgun, I need more time shooting handgun though.

Now the .50 cal browning in the machine gun nest in the front yard I'm an ace with, just point, shoot, and take down the target along with anything near it!

I dont have anywhere to hunt that I cant shoot my .270 at... I always carry it and my .30-30 for an open site backup. If ever I have the opportunity I want to hunt out west. I like the 7mag. That may be my next rifle.

Dad shoots a .264WinMag. Nice rifle, great ballistics, little hard to get ammo. He just likes to be different.

I've been told if they are setup right and with good ammo the 700 will shoot 1000 yard.

The neighbor would hate me if I shot int he back yard, only have an acre here at the house! I could shoot at a friends farm, he has nothing but his fields and others fields around him. Seems like everythime I'm out there it's never good weather to shoot or we're busy with something else.

If I could go back I would have gotten the 300 win mag. over the 7mm. The 7mm is pretty much the same as a .280

The 64 is a stud of a deer rifle..

Most of your 270 and higher calibers will reach out to a 1000 yards in the right hands.

You hunt just deer with the .300? Always thought it would be a lil much, but maybe im wrong. Ive never done much deer hunting. Never had the place to do it. Always hunted ducks, geese, doves, woodcock etc. Ive only taken three deer...

The .270 I have is great. Its a Model 70 Carbine, my favorite model of rifle. It was my Ex-BIL's. He gave it to me to use indefinitly and when the divorce came about I gave it to my lil sis to return to him. She informed me that it was now her rifle and she then gave it to me... I didnt argue.

I've met a few people at the range that were fan of the .270. I've noticed around here most of the rifle sold at the stores are the popular easy to get ammo for guns. The most common i see are the .308, 30-06, 300 mag, 7mm, and .223. I see a few guns once in a while chambered in .243, .270, .338, and .375 but not too often though.

You guys can hunt deer with rifles. In Indiana we can only hunt deer with shotguns or rifles that are chambered in pistol rounds like a .357 .38 or .44. They haven't allowed us to hunt with a rifle cartridge here yet.

Lord knows I've killed my fair share of deer but mainly with a bow, shotgun and muzzle loader (40+) Only 5 good bucks. The 270 is one of the flattest shooting guns out there. Great gun!!! I dont believe in having "to much gun". I aim for the breadbasket, there isn't a whole lot of meat to be had in that area. Besides the less they run after being shot the less I have to track

Now give me a rifle and your in trouble. I can shoot the center primers out of a shotgun shell at 100 yards with my little .17

Put my 7mm in my hands and anything within 700 yards is toast
I'm fair with a rifle. 500m I can hit a 10" circle with iron sights...

Im fair with a shotgun. Pretty dern good with a handgun, and better with a rifle. Worm and I used to shoot .22 every weekend. Got to where we could hit clays and bottles thrown by hand with em. Dont get to shoot much anymore.
That is impressive. Hitting a moving clay with a 22?
