Hi folks,

Iīm just totally fed up with our laws. This is more like a rant than a really helpful topic. Thereīs one thing that really bothers me.

Why do rapists only get 2-5 years over here? If it would be me I would shoot them straight to hell. Sure there are some people in prison that did not do anything, with todays technologies it "should" be easy to find out (to be honest, it isnīt easy).

I just donīt understand why the victims get a "lifetime prison without a prison" and their torturer is free after an amount "X" of time.

I know this might be disturbing to some of you. I just need opinions. I had two girlfriends that were raped and I know several woman that have been abused.

Donīt you think we all need stricter laws?

as for me, Iīm all pro stricter laws. But as long you get more time in prison for robbing a bank.....well, itīs difficult, at least over here.

I'm with you. I am all for stricter punishments.

My idea is to take all of the comfortable things out of the prisions... no AC, heat only if it is under 0... then only enough to sustain life, no computers, no tv, no nothing.

I also believe that capitol punishment should be happening a little more often...

 

I know exactly how you feel...My wife's cousin was born mentally challenged, she never had much more of an understanding than a 7 yr old child and she was brutally raped and then had her skull crushed with a heavy rock murdering her at age 13.

The guy got out on good behavior after about 8 yrs. You can not imagine how difficult it is NOT to go hunt this piece of trash down and gut him for the PIG he truly is. He should NEVER have seen the light of day.

That is disturbing, to say the least.

One of my distand cousins was also raped and beaten by her 'boyfriend', and got out in less than a year.

However, he did not make it very far. I was already in the Corps, and had nothing to do with that.

 

I want to bring back public hanging...

Would make a good deterrent. But yes, sadly, criminal have it too easy now days. And dont get me started on the laws that seemingly help the guilty and punish the victim.

 

I forgot to tell that these two girlfriends were my ex-girlfriends. I loved them both. They have been through a lot of punishment. And I donīt want any other girl or boy to have such a background. Your life really is not like it has been before. Iīm still in contact with several victims. And they tell you stuff you wouldnīt believe. Thereīs so much wrong in this world!

Bringing those people to prison for a longer time would be a good first step.
But there needs to be done more.

If I were you, well, Iīd have those exact thoughts!

Why donīt politicians understand this? Should we take it to our own hands again? This is, besides of murder, the most cruel thing you can do to a human being! What most people donīt understand, the victims will have a life thatīs not worth a...well you know what I mean. I have contact with several young women, some of them have been raped from the age of 4-9. Having a normal relationship? No, being in prison for all of their live? YES!

 

I am 100% for capital punishment. Eye for an eye. Get caught stealing...cut off a hand. Get caught murdering.....If you are found guilty in court, you get ONE appeal. If found guilty again....Immediate execution.

I could go on and on but if we did things like this our overall crime rate would drop like a rock.

 

That's not harsh enough, I'm all for setting the criminals (rapists, murderers, and other violent types) on fire in a public area. That would teach them a lesson and I bet it would keep others from doing the same crimes! Or bring back the firing squad.


Northern Light, I agree there needs to be stricter punishment for such brutal crimes and the loop holes need to be removed too! Too many violent criminals are let out of prision early due to "good behavior". Being good in prision doesn't mean they were rehabilitated.

Top, Iīm totally with you on this one. I was really close to kill that guy that raped my girlfriend when she was eight!!! He was and is mentally ill. But what gives, he has done his choice and I strongly DISAGREE with his behaviour. Though me and my girlfriend are somehow "divorced" I still couldd kill this guy. And believe me, he might not be the only one! This is strongly related towards these rapists!

 

Red3quarter, I truly believe there should be stricter rules! Iīm against killing prisoners though. But sometimes I feel a need of change in my behaviour. Iīm not totally against it. Prove that those rapists are real rapists? Send them to hell! Kill them. I donīt care where they burn....as long it is hell!

 

Just a little reminder. There are so many young girls and boys out there. 1/5th of them will have an encounter with punishment and/or abuse. Most likely within their own family. We have to make it stop!

 

It's not about stricter laws. It's about writing the right kinds of laws, with manditory minimum terms with conditions on release, and enforcing them properly.

I'll use two fantastic examples of what I mean: Prohibition and the Assault Weapons Ban. These were laws that were supposed to fix a problem and didn't. We still had the speak easy and all kinds of liquor. We still had gun crime with the assault weapons ban. Neither of these laws were properly written or enforced, and since one was repealed and the other expired, both without replacements, you can see how well they worked out.

Look at Japan. Their minimum manditory sentence is 7 years. Need clothes or food? Someone either brings it to the prison or buys it for you. There are no weights, cable TV, or creature comforts like heat or A/C .... just as it should be. Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arapio had some good ideas like chain gangs, no creature comforts, no weights, pushing education via an in-jail radio station, no ****, pink underwear, etc..
