Evening DTR. Started a project today I wasn't planning on doing. Went to dads today to work on something for myself but when I got there one of his employees said I need to take a look at my dads 97 chevy truck. He said the truck brakes were bad. Sure enough they were bad. It's all apart now, gonna get the parts in the am. While I have the truck down I am also installing a brake controller and the rv style plug on it. The truck had wiring before for a 4-flat plug and now it'll have the large round one so dad can have brakes on the trailer.
Finishing up that project tomorrow and then to her the wife and her friend paint the interior of her friends new house.
Wife and I went to a visitation tonight for one of my good friends grandmother. She died the other day after a fight with cancer, she was 81. His family was actually in very good spirits, they were very happy that she's not in pain anymore and can rest now. Guess she had bladder cancer that made it's way into her bones.
Got some good news to share with everyone. After about 10 months of being laid-off I'm finally going back to work fulltime. It's not the work I wanna do but it'll do for now. I got called by the power company today, they offered me a job as a laborer at a generating station. Day shift m-f, 40 hrs a week, health insurance, and good pay. I accepted the job because my unemployment runs out in two weeks. I'd rather work as a mechanic or for the RR but this will do until I can secure a job back at the railroad. Wife was excited I'll be making a good wage again, she said she's rather see me at the RR where I am happy but agrees this will work for now. I start monday may 3 at the new job.

I dunno if wrenching is as bad as some other careers, but the more time your off, the harder it is to get a job because youve been out of the loop.

Evenin, DTR. Kinda depressed, had a poor evening. We had a Marine function tonight, and it was pretty pathetic. The senior leadership pretty much ruined it, and I'm pretty tore up about it. Not really sure what I can do about it... I know what I should/will do, but it is not going to change anything.
It's like seeing your family go down the crap hole on an express ticket, but not being able to stop it.

Sorry you had a bad evening. I dunno what Marine functions involve but I had been to a few meetings, ceremonies, and retirements at the RR. All put on by managment, about 90% of the time the management messed something up during the get together. We had a couple guys complain but never got anything from their actions. Only time I got good results fromthe management was after the meeting when i graduated from apprentice received my journeymans card. The way the boss did everything sucked, he asked me afterwards and I told him he could have done alot better and that their presetation sucked. He was not pleased with my response but he did listen to what I said. He came up to me later and ask how he could do the presentation better next time around.

GREAT NEWS MATT! maybe it will turn into a wonderful job. heck yeah- in this economy full time is prime! finished up the venison with roasted red peppers, mushrooms and a little salsa, tasted better after all the flavors blended. good crock pot thing for when you are painting.
dropped off all the junk, paid for the tires and met so many people I thought I missed what office I was running for...got a lot of hugs and spread a lot of laughter, a very good morning. off to check out the two engines on the boat.
Madson, yeah a little knowledge gets to be dangerous. expectations mean that others should meet your standards. you and I both know that there are folks out there who just show up for the pictures. nuff said. semper fi Marine!

Drinkin a good cup of coffee right now, up with two of my boys. Gonna work on my valve cover some more later, probably go to Lowe's first. I've got a couple of projects that need tinkering with, I think the OL is gonna crack the whip on me some more today
She's got a girls night tonight, I'm the DD and babysitting for her.
Hopefully, next weekend I'll get a 3-day, and it's madhat time.
