Dove Hunters

I'm planning to do some feather busting tomorrow and wondered how many dove hunters we have on the board.

Aside from the usual jalapeno, cheese & bacon recipe, does anyone have any tasty methods for cooking the birds?

I think my dog wants to go out this weekend more than I do

Hopefully they're flying towards Texas.

I like to hunt them, but I won't unless I have someone lined up to eat 'em. I'm not a fan of "sky rats" as far as the table is concerned. I've never eatin' a pigeon, but I'm sure there ain't much difference!!

A couple of us went out last week and we got a bunch. I love it. Those doves sure do fly quick.

We call them "flying liver" around here.

Haven't gone yet. I like going during the second season. Less rattlesnakes to worry about.

Our season opened last friday, but we had a tropical storm that kinda ruined it. Been too busy to go this week, but we're having a shoot tomorrow that should be fun. Gonna try out my new Bennelli.

That bacon wrapped/jalepeno/cheese on the grill recipe is hard to beat. Make you slap your granny. Last year I thought I'd make myself sick, eating those and drinking coronas. We cooked up about 50 or so, and just sat around in the shade with the grill and a cooler of beer.

Last season I killed two banded doves on the same farm. Pretty neat, I called them in and got the certificates on them.

Just sliced, seasoned and deep fried. Actually pretty good. Cyanne, garlic powder, onion power, and seasoning from hell. Fry for about 2-3 min. I liked them as did my wife and B-in-L.

No, they're not. They're incredibly dense little meat nuggets; it's like eating flavored brick. (The flavor isn't that good either...)

Pheasant is excellent, quail is decent. Dove isn't worth shooting, in my opinion. I'd rather have chicken.
