Double check your receipts people.

Well, drove out to Waverly today to fill up with motion lotion for the trip to Maryland tomorrow and every thing went well, so I thought. Pumped the tank full, put the cap on, closed the fuel door, put the gloves away, whipped out the ole bank card, went in, paid, signed, and drove off to the house all fat, dumb and happy. (mostly fat and dumb)

Got to the house and pulled up the checking account program on the computer to enter the expenditire. Guess what, they charged me $116.50 for $16.50 worth of fuel. Man was I hot. I didn't even look, I just signed the receipt like I have for years and years at this place. Now I got to go and get this straight before that clears the bank.

Man, can't anyone do anything right any more?

This guy is too cheap to put in "pay at the pump" pumps but he has the cleanest fuel around. There seems to be a good bit of turnover there too. Never got a drop of bad fuel there yet.

Re:Double check your receipts people.

Happened to me at Love's in Yukon, OK. They don't have pay at the pump for diesel, and you have to go to a special counter. I walked up, told her the pump number, and she said "that'll be $185.34". I said "I don't think so", and she proceeded to argue with me.

I had her get her manager and I repeated my pump number. The manager found $32.50, and the gal was still wanting to charge me $185.34! Anyway, the manager knew what was right, and I paid him. As I walked off, she was trying to blame me, saying that I said a different pump number. It irritates me how people can't admit a mistake anymore. It's always someone else's fault.

I commend you diesel dude for admitting you forgot to look at the ticket. However, they should have verbally told you what the charge was. Any place that sells anything always tells you the total.

Re:Double check your receipts people.

I have a question... Were you at 3/4 of a tank and decided to top it off or something? 16.50 isn't much fuel! I usually fill up at around a 1/2 tank and it's at least 30.00 --- Just wondering! ;D

I was getting ready to go to Maryland and wanted to fill up before I left cause I heard the prices up there were ridiculous.

Example if the extra money put somebody over their limit without knowing, could cost an extra $50 or more. Just something to think about.

Re:Double check your receipts people.

Everything is cool there. It is a credit union card that I use as a credit card. They automatically transfer money from savings to checking in the rare event I over draw. No fees unless you bounce a check. The credit union actually treats you like a person and not just a number in a machine.

Did the Mrs. give you your 100 bucks back, or you gonna end up writing it off anyway?

Chris

Re:Double check your receipts people.

That sucks man. At least they gave you money back. I use the credit union also and they are great people. I only pay in cash so they can't over charge me (only take enough to pay for the fuel and that's it). And I always round it off to the next dollar.
