Angry Don't you hate it when...

<rant mode on>

I have had my truck for about 18 months...

Before that I had a Jeep Cherokee for 7 years...

Well my truck has a BUNCH of scratches & dents - NOT from my own making, but by others....

The first week I had the truck, someone ran a nail or something similar down the passenger side leaving a deep scratch on both the front and rear doors (dealer estimate to repair - $800. I choose NOT to bother). Month later, another scratch on the passenger side front door - looks like from someone opening their door into it.

Recently, I received a dent & a mark (that rubbed off) that appears to be from another trucks plastic side mirror(judging from the height of it - couldn't have been a car) that ran about 12 inches down the drivers side rear quarter panel... Bright side is you can only see the dent if the sun hits it just right..

Now today I discovered a deep dent/gouge JUST above the rear drivers side tail light running from the back of the truck forward for about 8 inches! This one REALLY looks nasty!

**** if I scratch it, I'd smack myself & say BE MORE CAREFULL, but I didn't DO any of these & it's really getting on my nerves! I really hate the passenger side scratches since whenever I wash the truck (its silver) they show up SO CLEAR on the clean truck that you can see it clearly a block away!

All the years I had my jeep, the ONLY mark on it was a slight dent on the passenger side from a deer who was standing along side the road, I saw him, hit the brakes, came to a stop right next to him & he put his head down & gave the jeep a head but!

All the money I spent on this truck - my FIRST brand new vehicle - I cannot tell you HOW MUCH this is bothering me!!

Are you trying to tell me something there?

I think we all hate it... Until we damage something of somebody elses, of course; then we just return it and run away before they notice.

Just remember- dents add character!

(she has no depth perception). luckily the husband was understanding and paid for it. people are just plain stooopid

Having "Training Wheels", and realizing that most parking spaces are designed for Honda Civic sized cars, (and most drivers STILL can't manage to pull in and out of them without tearing something up), I just park in the boonies and walk.

Or take Wifey's car.......

I would be mad if some one did a har har har to me when i just said that many nitwits purposely scratched my truck. I am thiking of a alarm system that will extend sharp points out of the side of my truck for when those ignorant peopel deceide to touch it. Only thing is i am trying to figure out if it is legal to spear a person trying to scratch my truck.

dents and scratches do add charcter to your truck, but key makers and mirror dent along with door dents from others do not. It is insulting to have some retard use a key to wreck your paint job, (if it adds character to your truck then why dont we all go out and key ours)..
to get serious i am comptiplating installing a camera system with a motion sensor, so when some one gets close to my truck the cameras turn on and record to a 12volt recorder. this way you have the little buggers on tape. the cams also work well when you look at the cop and say smile your on camera, they tend to be polite if they werent already. total cost would be under $1000 to do, i am trying to figure out how to wire one all together and get it to work properly. One day when i have some time i will get it done..... I hear your pain with your scratches.

Well you are not alone. The other day somebody hit my wife's Caravan and left. It just so happens somebody witnessed it and told security where she was. They called the cops and it is also on video!!! Turns out the guy had no insurance. The only good thing is there is minimal damage.

Too bad somebody couldn't invent an electrical device that would be harmless to people, but wipe out somebody's computer if their vehicle was running and made contact with a vehicle that was equiped with this. Wouldn't work on plastic bumpers, but might get the door dings.

I think spite and envy are more the culprits than ignorance.

Well I just wish people would own up to their errors - I've in the past done something stoopid & I left a note...

And yes I DO park way away whenever possible...

Here's another story that burns me to this day - My father's car had recently been re-painted (it was a Chrysler Newyorker). He then got very sick (and later died) - Well I drove his car to the Hospital with my bother & sister who had flown in - While we're in visiting (parked on the street), someone who was probably attempting to parallel park scratched, dented & almost destroyed the drivers side from the rear door back....

I never told my Father about that because I know what his reaction would have been after paying the money on the new paint job....He never got better so never drove the car again....

yea crap like that happens to me all the time. Just because my truck aint new people think its nothin if they scratch or dent it. for example..

Im sittin in a gaylans parkin lot wait for my friends to get paintball stuff. ive got my seat reclined back so ya cant see me. A car pulls in on my passagner side door. The dude opens up his door and SMACK right into my cab. I jump up. i open my door and step out. the guy looks at his door and shuts in and walks towards gaylans. I yell at him and ask what hes gonna do about my new dent in my cab. He gives me the finger and tells me to go you know what myself.
he walks in and i walk over to my door and get my edit huge mag flashlites) and walk over to his door and take one good shoot at it. When satisfied that the damage was equal i wrote a note. Friends came i hightailed it out of there.

Moral of the story is dont screw with a guy who has stacks on his truck

I think that I feel sorry for that story; do you have small claims court ability if you copy their licencse number down or what?
