DOES ANYONE EVER DO THIS???

About 5-6 years ago I started leaving my name and number with a little message like "If you buy this truck, and would like to know it's history call". Does anyone else do something simular?? I have done it on the last couple of vehicles I traded in. A I have gotten a few calls, several from people that hadn't purchased the vehicle yet, but were nosey enoght to look through the glove compartment, and owners manual. And some from the new owner, asking for a little history. One owner contacted me right away, and bought several items I had just removed, that was an unexpected bonus. Anyway I was just currious, I always thought if I was purchasing a used truck it would be nice.

Re:DOES ANYONE EVER DO THIS???

I've done it on several vehicles. I had one person call before buying it on a Toyota Paseo a few years back. Had the guy who bought the 98 Ram 1500 I traded in for my CTD call me about a year after he bought it, when he lost the rear end on the highway. He was curious whether I'd towed any really heavy stuff or otherwise used it hard, or had the rear end replaced, which I hadn't. It was whining a bit when I traded it in, though. From talking to him, it sounded like he had used it pretty hard--the guy really needed at least a 2500 from the descriptions he gave of what he pulled with it.

Re:DOES ANYONE EVER DO THIS???

I provided the owner of my 2002 TDI with a full word document of every service done on the car and every problem it ever had, before he bought it. I think this type of meticulous record keeping gave him confidence that the car was well taken care of. As for cars traded in, nope, never done that, although I sometimes wonder if my old '93 wrangler is still rolling around ...not a bad idea!

The idiot I sold my Acura NSX to lost it to the bank and it went to the auction. I got a call from a person wanting to buy it wondering why a pristine low mileage car was at an auction. I almost cried.... :'(. He searched the vin and came up with my name (which is not common) and traced me by phone number.

Re:DOES ANYONE EVER DO THIS???

Had people call me about both my f-250's I traded. The 01 the guy got it home and was having trouble called me to ask about it. Told him I had it at the dealer 6-7 times and they could not fix it. Not real sure where he got my number though. On my 02 that I traded for the Dodge guy called befor he purchased. I think I talked him in to getting a new Dodge instead. ;D He said that he got my number form the dealer.
