Find new guy on crew, tell him "I need the battery for that screw gun quick, go turn up the speed on the charger".

Most of them know now not to go looking for the "board stretcher" or "cable stretcher", so had to come up with a new one.

Rob

Re:Dirty Lil tricks....

I had a fellow helping me pull wire in a building I was working on. I took the drill with the auger bit and showed him how to drill through a stud, then asked him to move on down the wall with it. But as I handed it to him I flicked the drill in reverse ;D
He proceeded to smoke the end of the bit so I showed him again, putting the drill back in forward and zipping though the stud, before handing it back in reverse. He could not drill a hole
I did this quite a few times till I finally told him we needed to find something simpler for him
Yes he was ticked off when he finally realised he had been straining and grunting against a backwards drill bit. ;D

Even better, we had to take a JROTC class on a night land nav course. I was in the back preventing stragglers, and after awhile I saw people towards the front high stepping over the same spot. They would do this every so often in different areas, but nothing was there. I've seen this before and could't believe how long it was going on. I had problems holding it in every time the kid in front of me would turn and point to the ground indicating for me to step over something. Someone finally spoke up and asked what we were stepping over. The sergent said, "Grid lines, if you step on'em you'll mess everything up and we'll be lost!"

"He said they're grid lines, don't step on'em!"

On our training ship we had all kinds of fun. Some of the things we used to send the gars looking for:
-keys to the sea chest
-the water hammer
-left handed monkey wrench
-relative bearing grease
-50' or shore line
-a quart of pneumatic fluid
-a bucket of steam
-and we can never forget standing out on the bow in the shiniest summer whites with a boathook to get the mail buoy.

I know there are others I've forgotten, so if you think of them, please help me out.

-SFB

Ah yes! The infamous snipe hunt. I was a victim of that once (dang uncle), but on the training ship all you had to do was go to the engineroom. Snipe is the nickname for an engineer.

-SFB

Re:Dirty Lil tricks....

My toolie decided to take a "personal" break in the porta pottie. Released the brake on the van we were in and rolled it silently up to the door of the pottie. Quietly left the area and watch the rockin' pottie from a few feet away.
