Hence why it has been sitting in the safe, not on my shoulder. I bought it to help the the in-laws, and it is truly a nice gun. Custom stock just to load to be practicle.

I read an article many years ago concerning the muzzle velocity effects of porting a Contender barrel; Virtually no effect was seen in velocity until the drilling had entended several inches down the barrel; Something like a KDF muzzle brake goes onto the end of the barrel, so there can be no loss possible....that is the LOUDEST recoil control system I've ever heard, though....

...use a sandbag between the butt and your shoulder, I have fired my .338 up to 80 times in one day from a bench without any problem (it has the BOSS, though, and that greatly reduces recoil in and of itself!)

 

Got the Savage 17 with the bull barrell and a sweet 17 scope. Shot two holes with 10 rounds. Got the big brother to it also, 300 Win Mag.
