A word to the wise!!

Be careful with denatured alcohol as it is commonly referred to as white gas.
It is very flammable and commonly used in Coleman type stoves.

Maybe I am but as far as I know white gas is a colorless gasoline. It the days of leaded gas that was red in color, Amaco had an unleaded that was colorless and called white gas. Works wll in Coleman stovers and lanterns.

The farm store here went out of business about 10 years ago, they still had brand new coal scuttles and 1 buggy. Horse drawn that is.

Sorry Runamuk, but I beg to differ... White Gas is(was) just low-test, non-leaded gasoline.
Coleman brand fuel in the can is straight Naphtha with a hint of blue/green dye. Do NOT run alcohol in Coleman appliances..
Coleman stoves ran just fine on white gasoline when we were out of Coleman brand fuel. (we once ran on one Ethyl gasoline in a pinch... HOT!!)

Denatured alcohol IS very flammable though and the flames are almost invisible in daytime conditions. Marine stoves use denatured alcohol for fuel because water extinguishes alcohol fires from a spill better than when using petroleum (white gas/Coleman) fuels.
