This is big news where I live (NW Ohio) since Dana is headquartered in Toledo and a lot of jobs in this area are tied to Dana. Basically from what I read and what I know about them financially (I am a bean counter by trade), they are basically too far in debt and with the struggling domestic auto industry, they could no longer service the debt. Top that off with some internal management problems and it spiralled down from there. Dana will still continue to exist, but will probably have to cut back more and become a leaner organization.

I'd be pretty surprised. Generally what is meant by a company becoming "leaner and more competitive" is "we'll get Mexicans or Chinese to do it for $4 a day."

Dont even get me started on the foreigners taking jobs for a cheeper salary.
I bet I almost cried when I heard that about Dana. Those are some pretty tuff parts and they actually last. I wonder if the new Dana's will be like the #53 casting blocks. Buy, what is really made in America anymore?
