Hey Ed, find me a 30 or 40 acres too. Wife is really wanting to head that way. Her people come from the Fishersville area ( never been there, so don't know anything about it.)

Seriously, let me know of anything that would fit the bill.

Greetings fellow DTRonians.

I too am going to scope an acerage I learned about on Thursday. We stopped looking because the ones listed where small and overpriced.

This one sounds good...seeing it will help.

I BETA not start another BETA thread.

The two properties sounded promising.........

One was 21 acres perced for a 4 br house $260,000

The other was 2.1 acres with a 3 br 2 ba house plus a 2 car garage, and a 2 car shop with a vehicle lift. $400,000

First one was beside the main line railroad tracks, 21 acres with maybe 1/2 acre level enough you could put a structure on it, but you'd still have to have a 4x4 to get up to it.
The other 20.5 acres would be excellent to lease out for professional class hillclimb competition.

The second was about a mile down a 1/2 washed out gravel road, with a gravel driveway so steep and so twisty, that the Dually barely made it up.
The front yard was pretty near a straight drop off the front porch, and had a lovely front view of the neighbor's Semi-trailer, and 4-5 cars all rusting away.

Didn't even get out of the truck.
Passed on both.

First one does sound a tiny bit noisy, but that last one sounds perfect. Don't understand why the no interest, after all, sounds like a pefect little neighborhood.

Good luck, it'll be there.

The Harleys would have a little problem negotiating the road & driveway.
Nuttin' like trying to ride an 800 lb full-dressed dirt bike.

Shovelhead,
you are right road cruisers don't make a good dirt bike, I have a gravel driveway about 1/4 mile long, hate it when it rains and I want to ride my Shadow later UGGGG. If my bike is not muddy its dusty, can't win.

All right you guys. I'm back in town and checkin' up on some old friends. Boy, this neighborhood sure has changed. Just remember, if this left coaster starts this thread, you all have been burnin' daylight (my favorite John Wayne saying )

Howdy Y'all
Beautiful day out there. Working on the mill house (old house that my dad in law started but didn't finish) and getting it cleaned up and de-varmited. Finishing out the inside walls (except the milling room) with rough sawn pine and got the rough oak for the floors drying a bit more before laying it down. Got the milling room painted a nice slick semi gloss white (easy to clean) and should be able to get the mill moved in this week.
JKE, I picked up some really good hard red winter wheat while I was in OK. Makes absolutely beautiful bread. I'll ring you this week.
Well I'm burning sunlight, so got to get busy.

SR - I'm back and ready. Send it on when you get ready. I've got fish waiting on the cornmeal and the wife can bake some bread. put a note in with it to inform me of reimbursement needs. THANKS!

Picked up a Ruger MKII competition target pistol. A ton of fun to shoot....just a weeeeee bit more accurate than the .380...

Time to hit the first cup of mud and WST . Ya'll have a good'un. - JKE

Mornin' all,
Back from camping in the Hill Country. Man I hate the city. Got hooked on bacon cooked over coals, think I ate a whole pig this weekend (kinda feel like one myself). Saw plenty of bluebonnets on the way. Not a big flower person, but they look nice. Especially among the cactus and rock.
Went to a really cool place called Longhorn Caverns state park and took the cavern tour:

That place was awesome.
Well, gotta get back at it now.

Off to the cafeteria to find some bacon,
~Rob
