Cummins in a Ford
I am 6'7" tall. Am looking at my options of replacing my current truck. I use it to haul a 4-5 man logging crew. Nobody can sit behind me now. I don't think you can call the 3rd. gen 4-door a crew cab...unless it was a crew of cub-scouts. I because of pride don't care for the ford...But we would fit in it. WHY dosen't Daimler just build a real crew-cab??? Or a Suburban or Ram Charger?? I can't give up my Cummins but I hate being cramped and have yet to find a good dodge diesel service department!! I would LOVE a straight front axle chevy crew with a cummins and allison. Just my two cents.
I personaly don't like the HUGE size of the Ford and think the Dodge in general looks better. All the new FORD trucks I pass the drivers most ALWAYS turn and LOOK.Thought about a logo on the back glass that says I CAUGHT YOU LOOKING!

Sounds like a good combo. Sadly, it will never come to pass.
I really like the looks of the new fords. I know I know, I hate to admit it but they are sharp. I still like dodge but I would be awful tempted to buy a ford if they had the cummins option. Just my opinion.
For me there is no option. I would deff. go with the dodge cummins combo. Dodge builds a sturdier truck in my opinion and has the looks right now. Its like my mechanics classmates say, "these Fords are gonna put dinner on our tables!"

I have been associated with Ford all my life. My '97 was the first dodge that someone in my family has every owned. (bought it for the cummins because at the time i had been driving 7.3 idi's, and wanted something diff.) Needless to say the Cummins stuck with me.
I know everyone has diff. views, and experiences with both brands. I like Fords. I like Dodges. The 2nd gen ram has really grown on me, but it just has not held up like the Fords I have been associated with have. Granted, it has held up pretty good. Both trucks, and both engines are workhorses no doubt.
I would like to see a an option of a Ford with a 5.9 Cummins. I believe that sales of that combo would exeed sales of all other light duty diesel trucks. Everyone that I know personally, has agreed with me, and said they would definately buy one.
Same here and still own one. I really like the new dodge cummins engine. It is quiet and powerful. But Ford has just as much power just not as much torque "now". I really think the Ford has a better looking body and more room. It's built Ford Tough. But the Dodge is getting much better. Just my .02¢.

the service and warranty validity is what will keep buyers going for whatever truck they choose.
i hate to say it and i would be the last in line but the "big" three had better get their their heads out of the sand and address customer service SOON or you are going to see those tundra diesels steeling the show like the camary has.

Personaly I've never owned a Ford and only a few have come and gone in my family in the last 50 years.Just never been a big fan of them.I think Dodge trucks have got Fords and Chevy's beat hands down in the styling/looks dept.We have a 1998 1500 Dodge Slt also.Wifes truck. When we were shopping she looked at F150s and said it looks like a Toyota and PLEASE don't let IT be one of the better trucks. She was ALL grins over her Dark Red 1500.We kinda like the chevys then but not after 2000.They got plain ugly.
While I agree that Ford has a much roomier interior in the Crew Cab, I would never go with the Ford however. The 03"-04" has much better braking and a much more solid ride. The hydroformed frame is tight and unbelievably solid. I think if Dodge ever gets it totally together and adds the Crew Cab, they would definately give Ford a run for the money. As far as JFPOINTER points out, it has nothing to do with whining or maybe it does. It's more about adding comfort for the kids on long hauls, which in turn keeps their whining down. For contractors it would be nice to give those hard working crews more comfort instead of crowding them. In my opinion the ultimate truck would be Dodge Crew Cab, Cummins Diesel, Allison tranny.

Hello,
I'm new to this site and just love it.
I just purchased a new 2004.5, Dodge Ram, Quad, SB, turbo 600, auto, 3500. No question about it. It's the best truck I've ever owned. I traded in a 2001 Dodge Quad 1500. It's a tinker toy compaired to the new 600.
At this time I only have 500 miles on it and around town I'm getting between 16-17 miles per gallon. I've read and have been told it will go to around 21 to 25 miles per gallon at 70 mph when it's broke in.
Anyone thinking about buying one of these truck go for it. You only live once, you will not be sorry.
