Question Craigslist - good or bad?

I've seen Craigslist mentioned a time or two but have no experience with it aside from a few minutes of browsing. What are the pros and cons of it? I'm looking primarily at the classifieds for buying and selling but feel free to share your personal experience for other areas as well.

I've found several things on C.L.
Some free, some cheap.
It's good to be familiar with the item and the price it should go for before buying.
But unlike EBAY, if you look at it and don't want it, you walk away.

I just got back from buying this van Vehicle was in much better shape than I thought it would be considering the price, it's ready to work Not really different from any other Classified ads I’ve used printed or on line, as always buyer be informed and buyer beware

I have bought things from the craislist postings and the beauty of it lies in the fact that the items will be local to you so you avoid those exhorbitant shipping charges that accompany many of the ebay items.
I have found that ebay will NOT help you in any way if you get burnt but they talk <edit> like you never heard, you feel good about every email they send you after you read it but the bottom line is they will never do anything to help you.
Their business is to provide a platform for merchants to sell things online and to collect their percentage of the deal. That is all!!!
They do NOT care what is sold or if the customer got it or got burnt in the transaction, they have their cut and they have their form letters for the computer to spit out in their defense in case you might be presumptious enough to suggest that they have caused harm and want compensation.
If dealers feel too much heat they close their account and open a new one under a new name and continue to defraud.
Craigslist has their scams as well but you have a fair chance at least of weeding them out and a better chance of a fair deal as long as you pick up the item in person and you will also know where to draw a bead if you get scammed.Ron G

I've had pretty good luck selling items on Craigslist but like all listings you must check daily for bargains. It gives you access to local as well as outlying areas. Go for it!
