You got that right Lary, interesting idea, but I wonder what kind of crash ratings those "panels" that disappear would render. Doesn't look like there is all that much to them to save your skin if you get t-boned.

What if you bottomed out the car and dented the pan. You couldn't get out of the car cause the door wont go down.

I think the point being, if you can afford this, you can afford to not get wet.

It is a cool concept though. I think that it would be better if somehow the doors went up instead of down. Gullwing style doors are always cool too....

Gullwing is definitely cool, friends dad actually has a DeLorean and the doors are unfortunately a pain in the tail end some times as far as parking goes, but hey gullwing doors still rock. As far as the disapearing door goes I would love to have something like that on my truck, I think it would be awesome to have a big jacked up dually with doors like that

seems to me that the more complicated you make something, the more there is to go wrong.......

I wonder what is meant by manual overide. I know what it means on my slideout and I'm not too excited about ever having to use that.

A bit of an understatement here where I live. We came in at 12.83 inches for this month and we were not the wettest area. It would make it easy to "wash" out the interior though.

Funny part is that less than 25 miles away they came in with under 5.5 inches for this month.

It is a cool idea, but I think BMW used it first on a production car back in the late 80's.

IMO, this whole disappearing door idea is nothing but complete laziness. same goes for cars that parallel park themselves, and putting back up cameras on the back of a car no bigger than a Honda Accord.
