computer help...
If you are running XP maybe you should run the system file checker in case you have some corrupted system files.Click on Start/Run and type in SFC /scannow.Have your XP install disk handy because it will probably ask for it.It sounds like a corrupted video driver or a system .dll file or something which the SFC command will find for you.Ron G
Alright , the laptop got downright impossible to work with , sometimes it would freeze without ANY apps running , i got what i could off of it , and am wanting to format it , but I honestly do not know how, i have drive C and drive D, drive D was all just my pictures and what not, i went to my computer , right clicked and hit format, and it is running on drive D now, but drive C says that it cannot format because something is displaying the contents of that drive, so how do i do it?
Formatting D: drive was most likely unnecicary. What you need to do is format the C: drive. If you have windows XP, install the cd and reboot. It should automatically boot from it and then you can reinstall windows to just your C:drive while leaving the other drives(partitions) alone.
I am back... Slammed the recovery disks to it tonight, loaded up some software , and i guess you could call this the mainden voyage! It has been on for an hour now , an no sign of crashing , yet...
I just hit download.com type in spybot search and destroy (to get the right one , look for one with a very high rating) and type in adaware SE.
You can also go to grisoft.com and get ewido , it is a free trial , and i found it worked better than the other 2.
