Try going to Google, then type in, portland or. You will receive a lot of info about this place. Maybe more than you need.

Portland is a great city. It is about an hour from the ocean and right on the Columbia gorge. I lived in Hood River for 7 years which is 60 miles east of Portland on the Gorge. Great place.

I thought Portland was a great place to live. Used to visit there when I lived in Bremerton, WA. Still have friends there.

Re:The Company I work for wants me to move to Portland OR ???

I've spent most of my life in Portland, although I now live a couple hours south. It's certainly not a small town. It does have it's share of traffic problems and crime, but nothing compared to larger cities like Seattle. The suburbs on the west side (Tigard, Beaverton, Hillsboro, Aloha) are generally newer and have more things like shopping, etc. for the wife. The eastern suburbs (Oregon City, Gresham, Milwaukee) are a little older and less refined, but you can live in the hills among some beautiful trees, etc. and you're really close to the mountains.

All in all, it's a great place to live, and if you're willing to commute a little bit you can find something in a less populated area. Let me know if you have any specific questions about suburbs or other areas of town. I know the area well. Also, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a town that looks as pretty at night, with the exception of Victoria BC.

I like Portland ... especially when the Rose Festival is going on. The "Eyeball Liberty" is great for the visiting sailors and the people are real nice.

Last time I was there I got to do a good bit of walking around and sightseeing. The Science museum is an awesome place to take kids. I would move there in a heartbeat ... beautiful part of the world.
