Remember I said VA is a red state (or was until this last election) So bashing our current pres elect makes no sense.
I would rather pay 10% sales and a higher fuel tax then this stooooooopid Pers Prop tax. It sux to have to come up with the $500 during the holiday season.

The thing is, it you look at a break down by Counties in Illinois. Obama carried the cities but a large part of the state was red. In fact, of the 1.4m majority of the votes he got in Illinois. 1.1m came from Cook County alone(Chicago). I have never voted for him.
Shouldn't this be in the Political Section?

Yesterday I was talking "fees", another word for TAX here in Maryland.

Well, today I went to submit a building permit for a pole barn I'm having built in my side yard. Any guesses on how much it costs for the privilege?

$488.00 That's got nothing to do with the fact that they'll reassess me and hike my property taxes next year too!

Lovely.

I agree with you that VA is usually a "RED" state. But nevertheless, it's a blue one this year. Maybe my comment was a cheap shot at BO. It is obvious im not happy about him being elected. But I can guarantee you whatever you are paying now in taxes, PPT etc......just plan on paying some more over the next 4 OR MORE years in federal income taxes. BO will be working with the dems in congress to raise taxes and NOT just on those making over 250K. THEN YOU WILL HAVE EVEN LESS TO SPEND AT CHRISTMAS.

I'd say overall taxes, vehicle registration fees etc. are pretty low here in Texas. I'd like to keep it that way and hold on to as much of my hard earned money as possible. Unfortunately for all of us, that is not likely now.

I agree, it was the cities that put him over the top for the most part. Even in "RED" Texas, the cities mostly went for BO. I live in a suburb of Dallas and Dallas County was definately blue. My county was over 63 percent Red.

Yes it prob should be in the political section. Sorry I contributed to getting it off topic.

That's about right, except I also get to pay a "Land Use Fee" Because there is a protected river in my township.
