Evenin' all!
Been playing outside all day. Very nice weather.
Claude- the external VR is an easy mod to do. Been there done that. External VR and wires are still in place just in case....... I would un hook bothe the internal VR wires at the alt before hooking up the external..... Never know what's going on with the PCM and the charging circuit. Wouldn't want any wierd feed back toast the new external VR. BTW, the CEL will probably stay lit if you switch to external regulation. The PCM lights the light and when it doesn't have control if the voltage it trips the light.

Look like Claude is graduating from trannys and moving on to voltage regulators. How many of you want to put money on the possibility that this will be the first of at least 4 vr's?

morning guys. its been a crazy week out here. been working a bunch of 18's not to mention the MMS is out here doing inspections. fun
i wish i could have caught that conversation last night it sounds like some of the charging systems we have out here. they calling them smart chargers. it tries to prevent the battery from boiling the water out. so it does not charge all of the time. not to mention the pcm can alter the current coming out of it just by changing the signal going into it,unlike traditional systems that just charge when the engine is running. just my $.02. advances in technology or just another way to justify the high prices of the new trucks.
