Gas, got a 14 years old one drying my clothes right now. Normally, gas soaked clothes are washed before dried......... Even if the washing dosent get it out, and you use gas or electric, the static could set it off for that matter.

Maybe I'm not getting something here. If the clothes are still dirty, you run them through again. For years I had a old washer and washed the wipe cloths then put them in the gas drier. They always got clean, if stained, why would not clothes get clean. Detergent cuts oils.

The fuel never really comes out of your clothes... so they say. I don't have a gas dryer and have never tried it. The vapors can still reside even after several washings. This is just what we're told at work. I wear coveralls usually, and don't really wash them often.

Got a question from a suburbanite *hides*
When you say gas, do you mean natural gas coming in through a pipe from the gas company or do you mean propane or whatever it is (what is it?) that is in the white tanks on the side of houses in rural areas. Do people come to fill those tanks up or do you bring em to the gas stations... I noticed that all the truck stops way out in the country have propane fill ups but dont know if thats for RVers or what.

we mean both. Outside of urban areas where there is no "piped" gas service, folks use LP. Trucks usally deliever from the local co-op.

Ive got an underground L.P. tank that is filled about twice a year by my local company. The way to go. Ive got L.P. stove, H2O, dryer, Heat. Saves $$$$!! No electric, still have a stove!!
