Viewing this is like stopping to see a wreck, you know the image will bother you but you do it anyway. It is not so much the picture as it is the thought of what they did. Going door to door and taking people's dogs.

You see, this is just one of those things that could have beena voided if the country would encourage a life style that invokes you to take care of stuff that you own...

Yeah, that's a humane version of slaughter.

Use an air gun or poison or gas or something better than sticks. Even Hitler didn't use sticks.

I agree it's wrong to beat them to death but in a country where people die of rabies fairly often I can understand the problem. They should require rabies vaccines. I don't agree with the way this country is going with animals. There are kids that are starving and being abused but all people worry about is a dog that's being mistreated. There are homeless people all over the place but people would rather see a stray dog eat than a homeless person. I saw a commercial the other day wanting people to donate money for animals like it was one of those commercials wanting money for kids in a 3rd world country. That's just plain ridiculous. Don't get me wrong, I very much enjoyed having my two blue heelers and I miss them all the time, but people need to get their priorities straight.

I don't want to see homeless people beat to death with sticks either.

 

We're not talking about people starving here...........we are talking about dogs being beaten to death with STICKS!! There are a lot of other ways to get rid of a dog then beating it to death with a stick.

I understand about the disease......but COME ON!!!

I think it is a sad situation, but it is against the law in most of this country to own a dog that is NOT vaccinated for rabies. If the law is the same over there and they do not get their pets vaccinated, then they are just asking for an epedemic to reach a point that would require something this drastic.

If this is the only way to stop rabies from spreading throughout the familes of a communtity, then perhaps it is justified..while admittedly brutal and inhumane. I don't like it, but the number one concern has to be the health of a community, the pets have to come second even if we don't like it.

That would never happen to that extent in this country because we love our pets enough to get them a rabies shot. Which would of course have kept a problem like that from ever developing in the first place. Owning a pet has certain responsibilties to be sure the community is kept safe. Looks like they don't see it that way over there.

 

Very true Larry, but wouldn't you think that they'd just shoot one shot in the head and be done with it?? Beating with sticks has to take a few minutes when a gun would get it done and over with in a few seconds.

In that country when they execute a death row inmate, they send the bill for the bullet to the family. 50,000 bullets cost quite a bit and you have the chance of someone being hit by a ricochet, in the long run I can understand using a club.

I DONT like it! but I just don't see what else they can do to stop humans from dying. That society is not like ours in how they place value on life, be it man or animal. Desperate measures sometimes call for desperate actions......but I guess we would have to be there to really understand how it could get to that point.

Like the rest of you, I would be guarding my dog with a gun but he has been vaccinated so the chance of him getting rabies is pretty slim.

 

Sad sight to see but can we really believe the media? There was a time when folks in our own country used to round up teen-aged girls, tie them to sticks and burn them to death. Why? They thought they were witches.
I don't like to see any animal treated in a cruel manner. That includes the human being. But there are many bums around the Tampa Bay area that like to live off of what other people work for. It wouldn't break my heart...
