Does anyone know much about these trucks?
2004, 2500, 6.0 liter, 4x4,crew cab, 30000 miles for $15000.
My friend is looking at buying this truck.
Good deal?

Is it a Denali edition? I drove one of those, they are nice trucks. Could get expensive if that quadrasteer has issues. With the 6.0 and all wheel drive they are pretty quick. Sounds like a decent price.

 

I have a friend with a GMC Denali with the 6.0 V8. It is kinda weak on power and thirsty on gasoline.

For $15K, I'd try to talk your friend into buying a good used Dodge Cummins.



And I would hate to think what it would cost to fix that quad steer thing WHEN it goes out. No thanks. I'll stick with my Dodge Cummins anyday.

Yes, you could by extended warranty at anytime, used/new for about 700.00

 

It comes with a 100000 mile warranty. Owner says it gets 18 hwy 13 city.
This would be a family car for him to tow their 3 motorcycles.

If its a 07 or newer it has a 6.2 Flex Fuel engine that drinks gas. Mine gets a 13-14 hwy

 

We have an 02 1500 HD (rebadged 3/4 ton) with the 6.0, like the power, but I have yet to break 14mpg. Gets real bad during stop and go in a big city.
Pretty reliable though, its at 200k, runs great, just have to clean that sticky throttle plate every 20,000 miles or so.

 

They are good running engines. We have 2 of em, and between my uncle and cousin's work trucks, Ive seen 6 others. They all ran good, but never heard of better than 14-15 hwy.

 

But why spend $15K on that??

Why not get a real truck with some real power for about the same or not much more?


More power, better mileage, last longer, and not have to deal with the quad steer thingy. DODGE CUMMINS!

If he really wants a chevy....then great...get a good used Duramax.

He lying about the MPG, I had one, it got at BEST 15mpg hwy and around 12mpg city, while the 6.0L does move pretty good unloaded, it had a helluva time pulling 9k, Im mean on flat ground at 65 the slightest inlcine and its in 3rd gear. Also had to replce the whole readend under warranty though it would have cost aroound 5grand, and the rear end is a dana 60.

 

I have heard of some bad experiences with them - - typical of GM booboo's - - like 4/6/8 engines, diesels made from gassers and some stupid models we won't mention on a family forum. And then they wonder why they are having problems. Course, so is Chrysler - - oh yeh, and Ford - - even Studebaker. HUH?????

quadra-steer gets a bad rep for several reasons

GM was stupid about marketing it
It was way too expensive when it was first offered, and that turned people off to it...by the time GM lowered the price to something reasonable, it was too late to regain public interest. It was cancelled in the 2005 model year.

Its really too bad because its a nice system and is amazing to drive, especially backing up trailers. 98% of the people who say "no thanks" are ASSuming that because its something 'different', it must be trouble-prone and unreliable. Then because it gets those bad assumptions, false stories start developing like "well my brothers uncle's frined is a service writer at a chevy dealer and they come in all the time with problems", when thats not even true. I guarantee you probably 75% of the GM dealers have never even seen/sold/serviced a q-steer truck...theres hardly any of them out there. The quadra-steer systems are reliable and didnt have any problems. Maybe just because there werent very many produced, or maybe because they actually are reliable, I dont know. Like I said, it all goes back to teh marketing thing and GM being GM (stupid)....

6.0, 13-14 maybe 15mpg if you drive like grandma and do mostly highway. Anyone who says higher is lieing. They run decent IMO for a small block V8 and do get out of their own way, but you really need to wind them out though. If you're used to driving a diesel, the 6.0 is going to look silly, any gasser would. But for a cheap work truck that doesnt haul more than 10k, its not that bad.

I think the "mini-dually" quadra-steer beds look kinda cool too in my oppinion.

i havent worked on any but a friend of mine that works for a gm dealer says they can be a death trap when the rear steer fails. its electronic and most accidents happen when the truck were traveling down the highway and the rear steer fail and made the back of the truck steer out from under it self
