pumpers boys get all the chicks,

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
This is only partially true, however, truckies get all the awards, which in turn brings all the really hot chicks and a BUNCH of free beer.
Could'nt resist,
Tim

I would hope there was a K-12 out side ready for just that. we don't have any houses with bars on them and thats a good thing. glad you guys made it out and with out any bad burns.

my Lt. was telling me a story of a fire he made several years ago and it went like this...
structure fire with report of victims trapped. 2 man pumpers, as they turned the corner they saw a wrecker in the yard...a sec goes by and the wrecker driver jumps in and mashes the motor....the house had burgler bars on it, so he chained them to his truck and tried to pull them off. long story short, he pulled a 10' section of the wall out and thats where they made entry when the finally got some hose pulled. nobody was home btw

It should be an excellent experience for you, truck work is a whole different game. The rule of thumb for trucky's is this, Most departments that have dedicated 4-5 man truck companies put experienced, seasoned men on them, here's why, you will be operating above, below and on the fire floor, without water protection. Just wait to you catch a job in a 3-4 story building and your above the fire floor doing a primary on your hands and knee's in thick heavy smoke and the flooring you are crawling on is bubbling and crackling. Or what Britt just posted, things change real fast and its a whole different feeling when your exit is blocked and you don't have a line with you. If you have been in a fire without vertical ventilation, just wait till your in one with it, you'll never go with out it again. When I was on a pump and we were advancing further and further into thie fire, there was no better sound than that of the saw opening the roof.
I'm assigned to a 105' pierce all steer, NICE piece of equipment.

i think ours is a 100' aluminum pierce.
i had never fought a fire w/ ventilation due to manpower reasons until i came to the woodlands...night and day difference. we would get cooked before, but i have to admit the hole it nice now! and we are going to be running as a quint so i still get to fight some fire, but also get to do some truckie stuff, and yes im looking forward to it!
